Hi, just to let you know that the meeting with janet dean went really well, she is backing us 100%, she is going to be speaking to the health secretary on our behalf and trying to arrange a meeting for us with him, she is going to let us know about the final arrangements for the trip to london, but she says it will be ok, another thing, a supporter who is also a web designer has set up an online petition and community, check the site for details

Well done … this is excellent news. just to let you know that my PM inbox has had lots of messages from our members ALL of whom are offering their support and are sending e-mails right now (and tomorrow) to Janet Dean.

You have the backing of your local press (all of which have been really supportive); you have the backing of your local MP; she in turn will not only note that the press behind you but will also get lots of messages from JustChat members (and no doubt from many others). MP’s love good publicity and being associated with successful causes.

All of these things will contribute to increasing the pressure on both your MP AND “the powers that be” to take action on your behalf.

Whilst this is all boiling up to the surface please try to identify what you want to achieve out of all this. If you can identify a course of action (i.e. fully funded enrolment in a training course for Nurses ) rather than only money, you stand a much better chance of achieving a successful outcome.

Remember: planning for success involves having a clear objective and a defined course to achieve it.

Thanks for the help and advice, my objective has always been to retrain for a new career, until last year i didnt know it was nursing, Im able bodied, of reasonably sound mind, i have some little difficulties left rom the accident, but we can overcome i have a second chance that many people who suffer attacks dont get and i mean to take it.

OK Nick, then make this objective the principal focus of your approach to your MP AND to the Minister, if you can get in to see him.

Also, remember that the Disability Discrimination Act 2005 can also assist you as you have a number of defined rights under it. You can find more on this website:
    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/DisabledPeople/RightsAndObligations/DisabilityRights/DG_4001068

Alternatively you can Google search for more information.

Above all keep positive … you’ve both moved on a lot this week and with luck and a bit of help you will get there!
