What’s a bit freaky is that she picked him from a lineup. “Yes I’ll have that one, the rest of sod off back to your starving orphange.”.

I guess what bugs me most is that money talks…many a decent childless couple out there that could NEVER afford the blackmail money or otherwise…good luck to the wee soul..He is on for one heck of a bumpy ride, publicity wise,. poor wee mannie..x
i doubt that will bother him one iota as he gets older and benifits from the education and lifestyle his mother will provide. remember.she will be the first mother figure he has experienced……..his blood father was quick to hand him over to the orphanage in the first place remember!.
17 October, 2006 at 6:15 pm #244942What a freak-circus the whole Malawi trip has proven to be..with Mrs. G. Ritchie believing her wealth entitles her to flout the laws of the country..the laws that would be applied to anyone else. And yes..as Bad Manners points out..the baby WAS chosen from a line-up like a commodity. Further..the baby is not even an orphan..he still has a father and a grandmother..who desperately love him. Were Madonna’s concerns truly for the child..it would be a simple matter to provide his remaining family with the wherewithall to raise him in comfort and in his own environment..
The first wealthy self-publicist to adopt a baby dying of aids..in need of love and comfort in its dying days..or an older child..abandoned to a lonely death in a Romanian orphanage [Eastern European children are just sooooo not in fashion this year]….then I’ll be impressed. Oh and btw..we have plenty of orphanages here in Britain..with an assortment of children in a variety of colours..but..I guess that’s just not exotic or eye-catching enough for the ‘material girl.’17 October, 2006 at 6:24 pm #244943if his father and grandmother love him so desperately….why was he in an orphanage????
17 October, 2006 at 6:39 pm #244944The poor wee fella was in the orphanage till his father found his feet after his wife died..and because they were in dire poverty. What I’m getting at Pats..is that the family unit could have been helped to stay together with the intervention of the kind of money that would have been a drop in the ocean to Madonna..but which would have given the Banda family a comfortable existence for life. Instead..wealth is ultimately ripping the family apart. The wee chap is in for a bumpy ride..as Ruby said..either way.
17 October, 2006 at 6:44 pm #244945sorry esme but i dont agree. i would live on the street in a cardboard box b4 i would part with my child!. and if they were that poor…WHY have a child in the first place?he will benifit from his new family.

Well there is the awful thought that this apparently adopted baby is some sort of fashion accessory. If so, I wonder what will happen when the fashion changes. Will she fly it back to the orphanage in her private jet???
How dare you be as cynical as me
This is my point too. It just seems like if your rich and famous, it makes you look good to adopt a extremely poor child from a poor african country, not one a few miles down the road.
Pats, at some point your going to say which one you want, so not the others, its as awful as that. To fly accross the world with a camera crewe and all the hassel that goes with it, just to go through that process is quite bizare.
Well said Es.
17 October, 2006 at 6:54 pm #244947Guess we have to agree to disagree on this one Pats..though I understand where you’re coming from. Thing is..I reckon you can love your child so much you will do anything for him or her..and if that means thinking it will have at least have food in its belly in an orphanage..then that’s what you have to do. The baby’s mother died in childbirth..so circumstances overtook the family. All very sad..
