Gollywogs in themselves aren’t offensive, to me but the racism they represent is.
One of my favourite books is Roots by Alex Haley.
It made me ashamed to be white until I realised the shame isn’t mine. It’s every individual that uses colour, race, religion, sexuality, whatever, as a tool to inflict power.
We all have a voice, tis up to us how we use it.

The Question is though, we all know who the joker is ,but , who is Superman? lol
So far we have…. 3 dominators/dominatrix’s – Arc, moosey, Sophia – for trying to dominate the boards – well actually not the boards, but what gets typed on them. 1 hypocrite – Bemused Bystander – BB you should really be more careful when telling ppl to be ashamed of themselves, when you yourself should be ashamed of being a hypocrite. Shame on you. 2 racists – tinsel and Arc – former for starting the golliwog thread (Question thread) – Martin got rid of that one very quickly and Arc, for disliking ‘health tourists’ ; not good for a nurse. Kenty – for trying to take over my mind with her opinions. You cannot own my mind.

And for the record….I started a similar thread on golliwogs a few years back…..I am not racist either….I was curious on its standing in this day and age after an article in the paper….a shop had a window dressing of golliwogs which caused outrage in a community
Nem….great book…there is a series on at the moment I’ve seen advertised on the tele….is it a repeat or a new series do you know? I must get round to checking it out.
