told ya so…
Actually, I knew already.
I was just testing you.
This show is going to go on and on…it’s in danger of getting as bit like using the same formula over and over.

The most exciting development is that a new series of True Detective is being written, and like the first series (beg, steal or borrow to get this on dvd) it’s also set in Louisiana. The second series was interesting, but nothing like the first.
See this link for a review of the American bluray – it serves as well for the Brit.

there have been a couple of times that I wondered about Hastings lol, esp after the masonic handshake on one of the episodes.
But it’s the wheels-within-wheels plot which makes it so fascinating for the natural paranoid like me. And at a certain point the red herrings become too much. You start to realise the way the writer’s mind is working, and while you can’t see the real villain for some time, you suss that you’re not going to be able to see the villain for some time.
The Killing is the best of that type of stuff. Danish version, first series. It adds real human depth, too, as the parents worry, then search for, then find a daughter we viewers know to have been horribly murdered, and from there the human interest just gets deeper – all bound up with an election campaign with all its dirties. You genuinely care about the characters. The next two series weren’t up to the first.
Red Riding is also a good series from the past to deal with dark themes.
