The ordinary man in the street who could only afford to risk a couple of hundred pounds was highly unlikely to get any tickets, whereas the more affluent who could tie up £10k or more without worrying about when they were going to get it back if they won more tickets than they wanted seem to be the ones who have been allocated the majority of the tickets. Most regular athletic followers and those who compete from the smaller clubs (the very people who the government said would be inspired by 2012 olympics being in their country) will no doubt watch it all on TV and not be any more a part of it than they would if it were in another country. I feel that we have all been ‘taken for a ride’ that the 2012 Olympics will just be another benefit to London that we, the people of the UK, have paid for, another Millenium Dome.
