The USA is a business first, and a democracy second.

It’s estimated that this is the most expensive election ever held – $6 billion – a staggering sum.

And the people who spent it are wanting payback, whoever wins.

I like the US political system – it’s very well-adapted to the nature of the country, well-thought out in high-level debates nearly 250 yrs ago. The electoral college could be reformed by making each state’s vote distribution between candidates proportional, rather than the winner-take-all tally now in operaton (it wasn’t always in operation), but it’s a good system.

Still, it’s money which speaks in America, in the end.

if it’s a split vote, it gts complicated…very complicated..best not think about that..the details are boring unless it happens…one possible outcome is that nobody is inaugurated as president for the next four years, and the US has an acting President – Joe Biden (currently Vice-President.

a split vote has happened before..in 1800. Also in 1824 nobody got a majority in the electoral college. Both times – it was complicated.

The loser in 1800 became Vice-President, and killed his main enemy in a duel because he was so angry at being beaten. Them were the days – when Vice-Presidents were real men…

For me a wonderful result for all kinds of reasons and I think symbolically and pragmatically it will be the best thing for America.

To think at this point after the last Election, some people – even professed supporters, even in JC – were predicting that he wouldn’t be allowed to live out his first year as president, let alone survive politically. But America has decided that he should be their president for as long as possible.
