Obama seems likely to win, but it’s going to be a bit close.
It can easily be a situation where Romney gets more votes, but Obama wins, as happened in 2000, when Bush won the election despite having less votes than Al Bore. That’s the way the US electoral system works (I actually think it’s a good system for the US)
I’m not too keen on Obama, who works by consensus rather than leading from the front, though I hope he wins. Promises such as closure of Guantanamo and pulling out of Afghanistan haven’t been kept, but his policy on healthcare is a move forward, and he is the least pro-Israel of pesidents – Israel may well have attacked Iran by now if he hadn’t thrown US weight against it.
Romney, who is deffo in with a chance, will probably be less scary in office than he appears (I hope). It was his heatlh programme (when he was Governor of Massachusetts) which was copied by Obama. It’s the right-wing headbangers in Congress who worry me more.
But a war in he Gulf could become more likely if R wins. He said that if a crisis arose n the Middle East, he would have an easy solution – phone his friend, Netanyahu (Israel’s hawkish PM) and find out what to do. Yikes!!
