    2) hello Melody!!! I miss you on chat :(

    3) Clap Clap to the Government who have allowed the unnecessary additives and preservatives to flow free in modern food which has contributed Massively to adolescent Obesity and depression. All in the Name of Greed(import/Export)Slightly controversial yes!
Proven.. once again.. these preservatives have been linked to increase risk of Reproductive abnormalities, Testicular cancer, prostrate disorders and sperm abnormalities in prepubertal Children. The overwhelming cases of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorders) have been noted and linked to excessive consumption of preservatives (poor diet.. Junk food etc)

So although a piece of pie  or cake is a lovely treat…. I feel that there needs to be a dramatic increase in preservative and additive awareness moving forward.

After all… these children are our future

    Hello Chikka xxx :D

Without preservative there’s no shelf life and goods become more expensive. I’m not arguing for preservative and certainly not for other additives, but is everyone willing to pay (or even can pay) the increased price if they’re removed. People complained loudly about lead in petrol, so lead was removed, but to stop engines “pinking” other additives have to be used. Benzene is one of these, proven to be carcinogenic :?
Certainly awareness needs to be high on the aggenda, and there needs to be choice and alternatives.

You can hardly compare something like Petrol and cars (which is killing Earth anyway) to something like our children’s health and well being…. people who complain about organic and chemical free products costing them more are the ones who gladly go out and spend their money junk….Calculate both costs.. you will find going chemical free is cheaper. :)

I’m not complaining about the price except that i believe it’s a rip off and the extra price is over and above the extra costs. If the consumer only ate organic, preservative free foods then that’s what would be produced/manufactured, but until there’s some way of reducing the price then it’s never going to happen. People have preserved food for centuries, we need to be careful how we preserve and what the long term effects of any preservatives are.

We eat organic fruit and veg and try to eat as much organic meat as possible, although we don’t eat alot of meat. It tastes so much nicer. Organic potatoes roasted in garlic butter are yummy, even when I make them.

Carrot cake sounds like the most disgusting cake on the planet, have never tried and never will
Mind you, I loved Gypsy Tart when I was younger and that didn’t taste like Gypsies.

Did it tase like tart?

I never liked the thought of Carrot Cake, the name was enough to put me off – But it’s not that bad actually.

And – IF you are making your own, and don’t have any carrots available, just use sprouts! Taste is much stronger, but hey – And the extra added bonus is that if you use Sprout cake as a substitute for a Birthday Cake, believe me, you have absolutely no worries whatsoever in not being able to blow the candles out in one go..
