I always had school dinners
10 May, 2010 at 3:29 pm #439825My daughters school only gives friut or raw veg for snaks (my daughter loves them). Pete, it depends how children are brought up, my daughter loves raw carrot, we have never stopped her having sweets or crisps, but we eat sensibly and well, fresh eat, veg, fruit, I pride myself on the fact she never had a jar of baby food in her life, she recognises proper food. She will and does eat pizza, burgers, sweets etc with relish but only as a treat, and treats are treats because they`re not consumed every day.

10 May, 2010 at 5:32 pm #439827The school my daughters go to are doing the healthy schools award and therefore have encouraged no sweets and cakes etc in packed lunches.. and for a while I stuck to it then I thought sod it and I send them in with goodies in their lunch box.. all be it a penguin or something.. and if challenged I will tell the teacher that if there is issue with this I would gladly go in and discuss with them why a child who is getting a school meal is allowed a cake and custard dessert but my children are not allowed a poxy biscuit. Not only this but children need a sugar boost at lunch time to get them through the afternoons learning… otherwise you get tardy children. My girls hit the cupboards for a snack as soon as they come in…. and they are both slim little things.. I think the issue is more not what they eat at school but how little excercise children do… they don’t play out like we used to when we were little…

1. Learn how to spell and mean ‘albeit’ properly,
2. ‘Tardy’ isn’t synonymous with tardation; ‘tardy’ specifically means late of attendance, your children are retarded by global human intelligence standards anyway, if I can judge adequately by the mother’s genes (your viciously horrible grammar.)
3. If they played out any more even black children would have better scores in international math Olympiads. It’s already a travesty that we Asians started beating the Americans roughly three decades ago.None of this matters; I never ate at school, and I still did better than everybody else; I would’ve done better than everybody else if the times changed, and I will do better than everyone else. It’s just in my supreme nature that is higher than yours. No amount of nutrition will cure your children’s stupidity; not just Melody’s but I mean everybody’s generally.
tar·dy (tärd)
adj. tar·di·er, tar·di·est
1. Occurring, arriving, acting, or done after the scheduled, expected, or usual time; late.
2. Moving slowly; sluggishI rest my case.
10 May, 2010 at 5:53 pm #439829Ok so getting back to the point…
I want to know how schools can ban certain items from lunch boxes and then at high school, put a vending machine in the canteen full of the stuff!
11 May, 2010 at 6:22 am #4398301) lmao @ Trollish Moron… Cute Cixi
2) hello Melody!!! I miss you on chat :(
3) Clap Clap to the Government who have allowed the unnecessary additives and preservatives to flow free in modern food which has contributed Massively to adolescent Obesity and depression. All in the Name of Greed(import/Export)Slightly controversial yes!
Proven.. once again.. these preservatives have been linked to increase risk of Reproductive abnormalities, Testicular cancer, prostrate disorders and sperm abnormalities in prepubertal Children. The overwhelming cases of ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorders) have been noted and linked to excessive consumption of preservatives (poor diet.. Junk food etc)So although a piece of pie  or cake is a lovely treat…. I feel that there needs to be a dramatic increase in preservative and additive awareness moving forward.
After all… these children are our future
11 May, 2010 at 7:34 am #439831Moderation,control and exercise. It could not be easier
When schools concentrate on their true purpose, then we might see a change in the disturbing attitudes of the younger generation. Education, education, education is the motto.11 May, 2010 at 7:39 am #439832U-turns are just not happening in politics I see

Without preservative there’s no shelf life and goods become more expensive. I’m not arguing for preservative and certainly not for other additives, but is everyone willing to pay (or even can pay) the increased price if they’re removed. People complained loudly about lead in petrol, so lead was removed, but to stop engines “pinking” other additives have to be used. Benzene is one of these, proven to be carcinogenic :?
Certainly awareness needs to be high on the aggenda, and there needs to be choice and alternatives. -
