England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson is considering giving Michael Carrick his first World Cup finals appearance.

It is understood Eriksson may switch to a 4-5-1 system for the Ecuador game, with Wayne Rooney on his own up front.

Carrick is expected to come in for Owen Hargreaves, who will move to right-back with Jamie Carragher left out.

Rio Ferdinand is still a doubt because of the groin injury which took him out of the Sweden game, so Sol Campbell stands by to replace him.

And Theo Walcott makes the best cup of tea that side of the English Channel.

Hmmm I think a 4-5-1 could work well; flood the midfield and get Gerrard up there really threatening the goal.

Everything I’ve seen on the BBC and in the papers today suggests it will be Crouch who gets the nod. Im sure it will be Crouch. Sven’s not gonna start messing around with formations at this stage.

I think because of leaving defoe at home, he has no choice

I would like to see lennon play, i would like to see beckham play in the centre of midfield, to try and get it working and stringing some passes together, with lampard and gerrard pushing on, however not 100% sure of rooney playing the role of the only striker, hes so much better playing in just behind, maybe crouch is better suited to that roll, or maybe walcott, but nobody knows as nobody has seen him play
