The south is already suffering from water shortages due to over population. When people realise they will have to walk back up north each day with jugs on their heads just so they can have a wash they will soon move back.

no contest.Personally, I love the North. Who would want to move down South unless they absolutely had to? I lived in London when I was younger, but would never want to move back there now. And Oxford and Cambridge are nice enough to visit, but wouldn’t want to live near either of them.
To misquote Samual Johnson, He who is tired of the North is tired of life, for there is in the North all that life can afford.
