I heard every TV station last night and radio/Tv stations today state the election was not about race.
This couldnt be more wrong- Obama was elected because he energised a black vote and calmed white liberal voters into voting for him. His colour may have been an irrelevance to white voters but it was ESSENTIAL to black voters (in some areas 96% of Afro Americans voted for Obama) who voted for him- his colour played a fundamental part in HIS election. Had Hilary Clinton been the candidate, the Democrats may still have won but the turnout would have been low, a minority of afro americans would have voted and we wouldnt be thinking we have witnessed a world changing event (akin to JFK assassination, the fall of the Berlin wall, man walking on the moon etc).
It was about race but it wasnt about racism.
Hispanic, too slayer.
6 November, 2008 at 1:35 am #386371I just wish i listened to my insticts when he started to run and placed a bet at the bookies… but as for saying what Nationality he is seemly he fae scottish roots..!! not proven as its the medievil times… well so they say…
as for the comments of assination lets hope it doesnt come thru, but half the backward racists clans in the hicks of america where they say racisism doesnt no longer veer is so untrue… still in some schools in small towns the 2 can’t mix.. because of hate still bein breed into children which is shockin… same goes for over here, its adults whom teach racism not children..!!
anyways good luck to his new role in america, but may I ask does he take over 2day and where’s bush..?? and why does he have to wait til jan to be sworen in..??
6 November, 2008 at 8:39 am #386372Ahem.. I would just like to point out .. I do not want to see Obama assassinated, nor will I be assassinating him myself.

Yoda, I apologize for jumping on your back regarding your post. The issue I had is that it looks as if you are judging all Americans as gun toting assassins who really didn’t want what the majority of the people voted for. I’m a realist. I realize that there are people who will take aim at Obama. But, every leader has that reality over their head. Especially the leader of the U.S. Obviously, we are not well liked.Cas – Let’s just stick to the subject here. Yes dear, I do remember the floods. Kind of hard to forget but thanks for enlightening me
Slayer – Race played a big part in this election. Coupled with the fact that Bush’s approval ratings are so low. Obama ran his campaign on change, he speaks eloquently, Hollywood elites are on his side and the media is ultra liberal and skews a lot what they put on the airways. Hilary was more conservative and not as much of a socialist. She is seen as somebody who would keep politics as “business as usual”
Mary J – I believe that presidents are sworn in on January because they have to once again tally the votes to make certain nothing was missed. It’s kind of a check and double check type of thing.
Ok – Phew! Have I missed anything?
I spent too much damn time on this post :x
Like I said, I didn’t vote for him, but I support him because he is going to by my president and I hope he succeeds.

That America would get a Black President, but they have!!!!
Good on him!!! :DI don’t follow politics that much, but if he can make a difference, then let him have his chance. Come on, lets face it, anyone is better than the previous idiot.
Maybe, just maybe America needs this man.

The UK could do with following in the same footsteps as America, we can’t be any worse off considering the state the economy is currently in.
It was bad when Tony was in, now it’s even worse with Gordon. Maybe we should get Alan Carr in.. We’ve had two comedians, lets make it three!
