    1. Yoda, that was a pretty ridiculous comment. It’s shameful on your part in my opinion.

    2. PB – It is a big deal that he is our countries first black president because of the reprehensible actions that took place in the 1950’s & 60’s in America. In retrospect, The Civil Rights movement was not that long ago and now for our country to elect a black president is something that we can be proud of.

    3. I voted for McCain, but I am hopeful that Obama will do a good job as president.

Not noticed anyone giving you backlash,,,,,,Yoda quite rightly stated that it’s her opinion, to which she’s entitled, as are you.

As for the reprehensible actions of the 50’s and 60’s. There were those same actions not so long back. Remember the floods, where George Dubya once again buried his head in the sand and hoped it would all go away!! Those reprehensible actions are nothing new

Whether you like it or not American Woman, Obama could well be the 5th.

He has been protected for the last year because of assassination threats, and now he has actually been elected, those threats are going to escalate. It is just being realistic to say that he is very likely to get killed for his stance, after all America is the land where it is everyone’s god given right to bear arms, and people are even comparing him to JFK.

Just because people are saying it, doesn’t mean they want it to happen. I for one hope he gets a good run at the job, and would not like him to end his term of office prematurely.

Yoda is perfectly entitled to say what is on a lot of people’s minds today.

So what… you are not a chicken!

There are elements in America who’ll want him dead i think but perhaps it’s a good sign that America will now elect a “black” president, and i dont get African American… what is that… he’s American surely if my ancestor 2000 yrs ago was from i dunno Poland, am i a Polish Britain ?

I hope Obama doesn’t get assassinated, he is what the american states and its economy need to get them back on track…

I’m glad the democrats are in and the republicans are out.

The best man won regardless of color, that says alot for the U.S.A

Im looking forward in seeing whats gonna happen to Bush and/or his family…he won’t have near the protection he had, it’s only a matter of time.

I heard every TV station last night and radio/Tv stations today state the election was not about race.

This couldnt be more wrong- Obama was elected because he energsied a black vote and calmed white liberal voters into voting for him. His colour may have been an irrelvance to white voters but it was ESSENTIAL to black voters (in some areas 96% of Afro Americans voted for Obama) who voted for him- his colour played a fundamental part in HIS election. Had Hilary Clinton been the candidate, the Democrats may still have won but the turnout would have been low, a minority of afro americans would have voted and we wouldnt be thinking we have witnessed a world changing event (akin to JFK assassination, the fall of the Berlin wall, man walking on the moon etc).

It was about race but it wasnt about racism.

It also leaves the Republican party akin to Labour in the early 80’s- appealing to a diminishing core support (white, conservative) and having to reinvent itself.

I believe what you say to a point…I do think that most black people of America did vote for Obama because he was black…I mean of course they did….it was about time that black people have the very exact same opportunities. Last nights election was the most watched and talked about of all. Its a huge deal for the black people.

However…I think that Obama really got in because the American people as a whole are sick of what the Republicans have done to their country along with other countries…Sad they voted them in twice before they realised though.
