18 October, 2017 at 11:21 pm #1075766Linda, I’ve not read Dumas, even when I was a kid.
I’ve seen films, but they didn’t relly interest me enough toremember them.
Bad, ain’t I?
The Three Musketeers was written by him and that did appeal to me as a kid – “one for all, and all for one, up the workers and all that stuff” (to quote a line from A Hard Day’s Night?)
The pharmacy joke – you mean the one about the old geezer who couldn’t remember where he lived?
I’ll post some jokeson that thread in the next week or two or three . Some you may find funny, some not funny, but they tend to be pretty cruel. Dementia is not something to laugh about, but on the other hand humour is our best way of dealing with genuine horror – in the case of dementia, horror for relatives, not for the person who has the dementia (I believe).
I know one ‘joke’ about cancer which is so distasteful that I’m not going to post it because I would be banned and that’s for sure.
19 October, 2017 at 1:33 am #1075777Well ok scep yep pharmacy the best. Hee. My dad made his own funny, god rest his soul. Dad loved to go grocery shopping. Grew up in depression, think reason too always stocked up on Food. My brother and i do too…
But I was visiting, went to farmer market fresh corn pick up, dad 10 minutes away. Waited hour, mom panic, brother went one way in car, me the other. Found dad sitting in car with key in ignition. Looking at me, thought he would cry. Handing me his keys, slid over, told me to drive him home. Not saying word we got back to house, handing back keys, said f…k.. now know old, I forgot how to get home..89 years old…loved to drive. Let me tell u one hell of a back seat driver for 4 years. (Expression) ..diabetic dementia, low blood sugars gave him dementia.
