To write to a DVD, you need a DVD writer. If you only have a CD writer (CD-RW) then you can’t do it …. whether you use Nero or any other proprietary software.
3 February, 2008 at 2:28 am #308749i have all that !!! my pc is only 16 month old and its telling me it has it all on the philips checklist ! i will get there in the end like..its just for copying certain films for my daughter to watch as i have seen some right crackers recently,,i watch them on my pc..leather chair and feet up on the pouffe..heck i even bought the blank dvd’s ! im probably doing something really simple wrong ! like erm,,,clicking the wrong button.
all this technology totally wasted on me,,its criminal!

Here what he should have told you.
Most sites will let you watch films on the web, but few will let you copy them such has yourtube.
It’s a copyright issue.
When you download the film, there a small program that stops you from downloading them and saving them on a DVD.
There are ways round it, but its illegal.
Have a good look at the site you are using and read the terms and conditions.
If you are still having problems with this, post the site details and I will have a look when I have time.

3 February, 2008 at 1:23 pm #308752I don’t have nero 8 on this computer, but I did read the manual for it.
http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero8-manuals.html
It seems it will burn cd’s ok in most formats, but not dvd’s which is a surprise.
I don’t know if you are using the full version or the free trail version.
But I did find out there is a “plug-in” for burning dvd’s.
The “dvd-video multichannel plug-in” looks like the right one, see:
http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero8-plugins.html
It costs 28 euros to buy.
And without it I can see why you are having a hard time.
3 February, 2008 at 1:28 pm #308753If you have the full version, it looks like you can upgrade it for free, has long has you have your serial number.
