gerrard is a cert as always, had a bad world cip only scored 2 goals in 5 games and thats not enough for a midfielder is it
i think andy johnstone will do well for the toffees alongside james beattie i think theyl play well together
anelka at pompey!! watch out for that itl be hilarious especially the manchester city games
Gerrard is a good honest player – no more – he’s hardly world class I think we have only 2 players near to world class – thats Rooney and Ferdinand – if he stopped trying to look like Bob marley and concentrated on his game
Two man Utd players that hardly shined this World cup …. too much hype surrounds Rooney, he’s shown he’s been less than average this world cup and in the run up to it too… “Nearly World Class?”… Not in my book.
Gerrard, Hargreaves and Joe Cole were Englands best players this time round.
ffs he had a broken foot in the run up to the World Cup – how can he shine on crutches !! – he still has more than any other home grown player
I agree with hargreaves – hot a popular choice of player – but he had a good world cup
Gerrard – apart from 1 goal was non existent and Joe Cole drifts in and out games
All in all – the 2 finalists were nothing special either – just happens we were less special !!!
Two goals for Gerrard, he was Englands top scorer against Trin & tobago & Sweden. That’s not really what I call Non-existant.
ffs I could score against trinidad and Tobago !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Apart from Crouch, no one else on the England team could ! Shaka Hislop must have been sick of the sight of Gerrard
25 July, 2006 at 6:21 pm #230796gerrard is world class, so is rooney, so is most of the england team, but when it comes down to it.. the fact they are still so full of themself… they did’nt bother trying to play as a team, each and every player wanted to do somthing speical themself.. to get the limelight
ericson should have given them all a right bollocking.. instead of just sitting back and saying
we can only get better

For a team that has won nothing for 40 years – I would hardly call them world class
The only thing that makes our Premiership so good is the influx of foreigners – without world class players – Im talkin Henry , Bergkamp , Robben , Cantona , Crespo etc it would be poor
26 July, 2006 at 8:44 am #230798they are world class players
definition of a world class player is that every team in the world would love to have them
i can’t see any team turning the down the chance to have players such as Rooney, gerrard, Beckham, Lampard, Terry in there team
you can say the same about the spanish league, not many spain superstores play in that

I haven’t seen any Spanish Superstores playing anywhere – are there any … Aldi – that’s german I think – Lidl – no idea Asda is part of Wallmart – pml
Seriously though – you say all of the team are world class – then you can only name 5 – ffs Beckham has never ever been world class – most overrated player on the planet – as George Best ( a true World class player) pointed out . Lampard is nowhere near world class – as he proved in World Cup nor is Gerrard – good club player but hardly set the World alight this summer . Terry is just a thug – along with his old Chelsea teammate Wise – I’m only gonna give your Rooney out of your 5 matty !!!
26 July, 2006 at 10:35 pm #230800TYPICAL BRITS….DO OUR OWN DOWN IN SAME BREATHE AS CHAMPIONING FOREIGNERS,TRUTH IS WORLD CUP WAS POOR OVER ALL ,WE BLEW A GREAT CHANCE 2 WIN IT

None of the England team set the World alight at the World Cup.
28 July, 2006 at 6:16 pm #230802GRRRRRRRRRR ffs if u cant see Gerrard is the best player in the world, then ur as fick as sh it GRRRR ffs
28 July, 2006 at 7:19 pm #230803If he was the best player in the world he wouldn’t be playing for Liverpool, would he? Fact.
28 July, 2006 at 9:23 pm #230804gerrard: = overrated (imho) 8)
nobody shone this world cup including brazilians, and argentines, spanish (never do… they are a bit like us)
nobody fufilled the expectation
and the fact is we could have EASILY won it this year, but it was so crap anyway im clad we never!!
the final was a farce… not what you want to see in a world cup final. i much prefer the Euro’s, teams really seem to shine then. dont know why, but they just do :?
we should have took Young, and Defoe (hate to say that as a gooner but i admit when i think somebody is a good player even if it is a yid) and to hell with it, why not stick a few championship (first league) players in aswell…. they would play their hearts out! :D
