My brother took a samurai sword to someone who was stealing his car… he smashed in the window with the handle end and swiped at the mans head!
Lucky for the man it was an ornamental sword and he wasn’t beheaded!
Lucky for my brother too or he would now be in prison for murder.

Many years ago I worked in a shop and persued someone who had stolen… i ended up in the store car park with this woman at a car where her 4 friends were waiting… i backed off and thought ‘sod that’ …
no possession is worth risking your life for, especially when it’s not your own

    Kenty…
I wondered what it was that the woman had stolen for you to apprehend her? It would have to be worth a fortune for me to stand myself in the way of the door… if it was a marsbar say.. was it worth it? yes you shouldn’t have people steal from you… but equally is it worth a beating or death over.. which might just happen one time!

I understand what you’re saying Melody. Nothing is worth risking your life for. This woman stole the previous day and although no one can be 100% sure I was pretty confident she was not a knife wielding maniac. However theft is theft no matter how small the item is. All the major supermarkets and shops in towns always call the police when a thief has been caught. Why should us smaller businesses not?

When this happens you have to be seen as ‘someone who will do something about it’……….in today’s economic climate things will only get worse….people will get desperate whatever their circumstances are.

Its a bit of a catch 22 Turn a blind eye and risk going broke or stop the offender and put yourself in harms way.

When there have been situations where it’s not safe or for some other reason we were not able to apprehend and phone the police….we have printed their mug shots off the cctv and put there piccy in the window asking for name and addresses and letting people know they have stolen. So either way if they are caught they won’t be let off.
