I posted this in sport, but thought id put it about so more peeps get to see it. its not serious news, but its a serious post :)
okay, its fingers crossed at the mo, but my young friend Paul Farquhar providing he is well enough is going to be the mascot at man u’s game this weekend!!!!
he is our goalie for my sons team Langley Colts in Harlow (under 10’s start of this coming season) and is seriously ill with cancer.
he has just come out of Addenbrooks today following another bout of extensive chemo, and as long as he can keep himself out of trouble till the weekend he will be there!!!!!
im so pleased for him, he really deserves it cos he has kept a smile on his face all the way through the last six months, and has even been to visit david beckhams house down the road, although he only got to meet his mum lol!!
we took the FA cup up to the local hospital for him to see when we had our annual footie funday a few weeks ago. when he saw a load of suited bouncers coming up the ward he asked his mum if it was david beckham and was apparantly dissapointed to learn it was ONLY the fa cup!! kids bless em!!
so if you are all watching the match at the weekend look out for him and send him huge cyber get well wishes….. he needs em

17 August, 2006 at 1:39 pm #236035thanks mr A for your imput on this thread. I was all proud telling Paul’s mum that id posted about him on a few sites to get him noticed a bit more…
just hope she doesnt read this one.
paul’s chances of beating this cancer are no more than 50%. he is nine years old.
please delete all your posts. If you dont then will somebody delete them for me.
i am actually pretty stuck for words so shall say no more.
17 August, 2006 at 1:53 pm #236036this is Paul kissing the FA cup a few weeks ago. we had the cup on loan for a day at our kids football funday and the bouncers didnt hesitate when we asked if they could take it to the hospital for paul to see.
When he saw the big bouncers coming into his ward he thought David Beckham must be visiting and was a little dissapointed that it was only the FA cup…. Kids!!!!!

17 August, 2006 at 3:28 pm #236038thankyou
he really is a funny kid, and has a brill sense of humour which is carried him through so far.
fingers crossed he carries on getting better. the signs are good for sunday, but it will drain him a bit. its really hard striking a balance…. dont allow him to do anything atall so he doesnt suffer so much, or let him have a bit of fun and deal with the consequences. 10 minutes of football did him in a couple of weeks back but to see the fun he had was priceless… he had us all in tears, including grown men!
17 August, 2006 at 8:50 pm #236039Sharon,
why not ask PB or NM to collate all the (decent) posts into ONE single thread for you if that’s possible (surely just a bit of cutting and pasting) – and ask them to delete the rest? Sometimes it’s difficult to believe that posts like this can be butchered tbh. Sad.
I think JCFC is falling to bits btw – maybe Paul would be up for a game with us, eh? – speak to Matty!
