No they either get aborted, or shoved into a home until someone decides to adopt them. Cat’s can look after themselves, babies and children can’t, think about that. :)

how does a woman giving birth to a child take up a home for an aborted baby you daft git

and kittens cant look after themselves actually. Youre missing the point here, some animals DO get put down if they cant be rehomed after a certain length of time, since when were children murdered because they couldnt be found a home?

come back when youve got something sensible to say

It’s a well known fact, vets only come out with that tosh because they care about the strays, my old vet told me it is more likely that your cat will become ill if they don’t have kittens, just as it is more likely for a woman to get breast cancer if she hasn’t breast fed…

….and i assume from that that YOU dont care about the strays?? :? Politics is in fact right on this one, vets will tell you that animals are more susceptible to diseases if they havent been spayed, there are no medical benefits whatsoever in letting them have one litter. For every kitten you let your cat have you are taking up a home that could have been used for one of the thousands of strays…think about it

I think of my cats first, I’m not arguing the fault here, vets do point out the cat form of HIV, that is true, vets also point out that cats are generally more healthy after one litter. If they weren’t meant to have babies they wouldn’t.

for the love of god! vets DONT point out that its healthy to have 1 litter!!! There are no medical benefits to it.

If they werent meant to have babies they wouldnt???? some 12 year old girls are capable of having babies, but that doesnt mean its a resposible thing to let them do it, does it?

To be fair to sian pebbles the confusion from vets could be … i think the having one season (not necessarily a litter) was medically seen as the right thing to do in the past by vets and older ones still have that opinion maybe, but newer research do say that speying before the first season are as good if not better, so maybe some vets esp the old school still think 1 season / litter first is best, but i think its season rather than litter anyway.
But i can also see why humans would see the emotional side of not making their cats / dogs barren without having the joy of being a parent, but it is a human emotion cats / dogs don’t get depressed or upset abt having no babies as a rule as humans may do.
That said on the flip side we are all here to procreate that is the purpose of life and producing new life so the species and ur genes are part of the future, but yes there is too many homeless and sadly drowned because they are not actually wanted and they really should be neutered and speyed i think, but it is so expensive and sadly not all pet owners realise the extreme costs that can be incurred by simply having a cute kitten / puppy the injections speying boosters and so forth mount up, without any problems u may have through ill health or accident and ownership of pets can be taking too lightly. but to responsible owners that have kittens and ensure good homes you cant knock them for that either it isnt an individuals fault that there is millions of unhomed cats and dogs out there, that arguement should be aimed at the ones that put them there.

There is a charity where you can get your animal speyed half price but i cant remember what it is

    #339391

cats protection league will give u vouchers for speying / neutering and i think the pdsa will help the low income also

Nope, my vet said it is healthy for a cat to have 1 litter, just like it is in humans, and as for twelve year olds it is only ethically wrong for them to have children.
We wouldn’t be made the way we were if that was the case.

If humans didn’t treat animals so cruel do you think that a vet would be guiding you away from your cat having a litter?

My vet was honest, he said even though there are lots of strays and neglected cats, it is healthy for a cat to have 1 litter. If you have a problem I’ll take it up with him yourself

like u say Sian different vets and different research and differing opinions the most up to date research i thought was no litter, spey b4 first season etc but who knows it all changes, the 1 season or 1 litter scenario used to be the way to go, i have to admit to always liking the idea of animals having one litter but thats just my sentimental human emotion on it, and no 1 litter probably wont hurt but sadly there is cats and dogs out there churning out litter after litter sometimes not even for money and dont make it to cats and dogs homes but are just drowned etc just because the owners wont / dont spey them.
