I taught Muslims at one point in my life, and they were very very respectful. One Nigerian guy – about 20 – had several wives. I asked him if they each had several husbands and he looked at me in horror. Allow women one tiny bit of control, and we men are dead.

Muslims in the UK are intergrated into the community from Parliment, to education to health care to sports (probably more skewed towards cricket id imagine!).
Why not ‘Skihs must integrate more’ or ‘Poles/Europeans must integrate more’ ?
Is it the religous intergration within the community or do you mean Pakistanis, Arabs must intergrate more ??

From the point you’ve made I can see how comments including mine are ignorant. Think the main point is that the reason schools aren’t celebrating Christmas etc seems purely because muslims are being offended. Perhaps it is because no one in schools celebrate a muslim festival? I personally don’t know any muslim festivals, I’m assuming Ramadam isn’t a festival. Anyway can Ramadam be celebrated and taught along side festivals like Diwali and Christmas? I don’t know enough about it and my questions might seem stupid, but I’m not too proud to ask questions and if I look stupid I look stupid. Wont be the first time and certainly wont be the last.

Not at all…Marriage is a form of property. To have several wives – I think about a dozen, in his case – was a symbol of his wealth and power, and he dressed accordingly.
Polygamy is fine by me, though we’re not allowed here, but to be faair the wives should be allowed to ahve several husbands, too. This is not allowed in Islam.
Which is one of the reasons I’m not attracted to it. It ecnourages misogyny – and there is far too much emphasis on authority for my liking.

You don’t come across as stupid, Ms K. Certainly not as much as i do.
But while there is no real discrimination against Muslims in official life (that I know of), that doesn’t mean that they’re integrated.
First, there is the sharia law which they practise. I believe that several communities practice their own legal system privately, not telling the authorities. The same goes with unofficial schools – though they’re not alone in this. The qhasidim Jews in Stamford Hill also have secret schools, we’re finding out.
Secondly, the fact that Radical Islam has carried out such murderous strikes – and has recruited quite a few young Muslims in this country – has led to a deep suspicion of Muslims in some areas. This is especially the case given the fact that British troops have been involved in a bloody war agasint Radical Islamists since the beginning of the century. That’s why far-Right groups like the English Defence League and Britain First are organised to attack Muslims.
Most Moslems are not radical, are not violent, and are not separate from the law, which is why BB’s post is so nasty.

Yes, this particular statistic is not a direct majority, but only 25% are non-supportive, so a majority of them who have an oppinion on this support it.

Again this is not a majority, but its one of the more extreme questions asked in the study. An example of a majority would be 59% think that women should wear a hijab.

Well, drac, that is not quite what it says. The poll points to Muslim students, not all Muslims. Students do tend to be more attracted to radicalism anyway.
Even so, these are very worrying statistics, and thank you for them.
The polling was carried out by the Centre for Social Cohesion, which is right-leaning, but still it’s respectable, unlike some of the suspect organisations quoted on the boards during the EU campaign. It’s also dedicated to integrating Muslims into British society – which is what we allseem to agree upon.
What concerns me is why young Muslims in the UK should be attracted to Radical Islam – to the point of killing people and being killed. Crack that and you may be on teh way to solving it.
