No doubt the Ge of the 1950s would be quoting the same legislation out with a silly smiley face proving he is correct, but all it would illustrate is like the flammable material used in tower blocks..
The cladding used on Grenfell Tower, which has been widely blamed for spreading the blaze, is banned in the UK on buildings of that height, Philip Hammond has said.

It’s okay for black people to sit at the back of the bus if the laws says they have to though?

Can you explain please Dr Drac, Ph.D. How did you reach the conclusion that Muslims fasting during Ramadan is on a par with pedophiles working in a school?

The logic in both cases is identical, the person believes themselves to be safe in a situation. Most other people think that it is not safe for them to be in that situation. If you look at the replies to this thread, you will see that a large majority of respondents agree that operating a crane while dehydrated or otherwise impared is not safe.

The logic is not the same at all and you have no evidence Dr Drac, Ph.D, to suggest otherwise. You have no evidence at all that Muslims are deliberately flouting the law in relation to operating heavy plant and dangerous machinery during Ramadan and fasting. As other religions fast and to place it on a par with pedophilia pretty much sums you up on this subject.
Current Employment Law and Health and Safety regulation states a full risk assessment should be carried out in relation to the operation of dangerous plant and machinery if employees are fasting during Ramadan. The onus is on the employer to ensure this is carried out. If individuals are not adhering to this then they are in breach of the law. The law is quite specific about this issue.

In what what are the examples dissimilar?

The question is if it is dangerous or not, not if it is legal.

I am not comparing Islam to paedophilia, I just chose paedophilia as an example because it’s something I believed you would find to be wrong.

This is what I said in my summary of the link you posted, yes.

Again, the law isn’t really important to this discussion. But in order for the employer to carry out a risk assesment, they must first know that an employee is a risk. In the OP, the employer probably would not have known the crane operator because they were not reported.

I cant be arsed playing Dr Drac, Ph.D, question game but I will respond to this one applying your kind of logic..
You placed all Muslims, Ramadan and fasting in the same risk box as pedophilia. All pedophiles without exception, are potentially a risk to children. All Muslims fasting during Ramadan don’t operate heavy plant and dangerous machinery and even then only a tiny minority are qualified to do so.
Get it?

No, that doesn’t make any sense. Not all paedophiles are teachers, just as not all muslims are crane operators. The example applies to cases in which they are in those situations. That is the point of the analogy.
But I think you know this, you just want to disagree with me.
10 July, 2017 at 4:14 pm #1060168And to be clear, I don’t think that fasting significantly affects your ability to operate a crane. But I might be wrong on this, I just don’t think that special exceptions to any law or regulation should be made for a religious practice. Especially ones that may endanger people’s lives.
10 July, 2017 at 4:15 pm #1060169Don’t change the analogy now to suit your argument, in that Dr Drac, Ph.D style of yours. You were quite specific, if you are going to make sweeping statements about issues you are ignorant about, then expect others, whether it be online or in your real life, to challenge your primitive views.
Get it?
