My dad took me to see song of the south when I was a youngster. Uncle Remus played by James Baskett. Baskett received an an Honorary Academy Award for his performance as Uncle Remus yet was not allowed to attend the film’s premiere in Atlanta, Georgia because Atlanta was racially segregated by law. Disney have since deleted this movie. Baskett was only 44 when he died from complications of diabetes and suffered an heart attack! I thought he was an old man in the movie. Its been over 70 years ago this movie was made. I can still sing every word in the sound track of this movie lol
