Danny Rollins was executed this evening. A lot of murderabilia related to this case turned up on Ebay, it has since been taken down.

I believe in the law that tries to prevent incarcerated killers from profiting from their crimes, but I got to thinking about the people that collect true crime artifacts. Is it just a hobby to them? Is it immoral? Does anyone know anyone that collects the memorabilia of convicted killers and what kind of person are they?

    Wierdo’s is what they are.

But, there has always been a fascination with killers…. look at the Krays for instance, and the money made off of their backs since their incarcaration….

    Cas

I don’t know anyone who collects this kind of stuff either, but I agree with what Sharon says, that they must be a touch weird

I assume that this memorabilia is something to do with the weapons or items used in the killing of the victim, seems very odd to me that people do and would want to collect this kind of thing, a little macabre I spose you could say.

Yes, I agree.. totally feaky…that’s why I was thinking does anyone know any of these people? Many people read true crime books, could that spill over to collectables?

I think people are fascinated by things that are so far removed from their own lives. They have no comprehension of how someone like Dennis Nilsen for example, could have done what he did.

I find these mass murder cases fascinating, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading the autobiography of Albert Pierrepoint Official Executioner of Great Britain 1931 to 1956.

I don’t collect murderabilia though.

Many people do Owen – re books – and I can comprehend that, however, I was approached by a chick, in the chats, that actually collected murderabilia I was like omg and questioned her on it.. she replied that it was just a hobby..she was pretty cool, but I changed my name to mole man just in case lol
