If people needed a good standard of English before they were allowed to live here then half of the people on this board would have to emigrate.
As for Sikhs not wearing crash helmets, a turban isn’t a fashion accessory. They have to wear them as part of their religion. Again, what harm does it do to anybody else if Sikhs don’t wear crash helmets? Maybe those of you who are so concerned about the issue could dedicate your life to developing crash helmets that would fit over turbans.
Emma you say it doesn’t take a masters degree to read signs in a foreign language. You speak like someone who obviously hasn’t tried learning a foreign language. Could you read road signs written in Welsh, Czech, Chinese, Russian, or Arabic? Reading in a foreign language can be difficult if you’re unfamiliar with the language.
As for the idea that you can claim benefits for a family living overseas, well that’s just nonsense. If they don’t live with you here in this country then you can’t claim benefits for them.

Our language is English.
Glaswegian: “Thas reet, Jummeh, kudna ‘grree wuthya mooer!”
Cockney: “Yer wah? Stahn da kerwoze! Can’t ya spake blinkin’ blardy English?”
Scouser: “****** @@@@ ****** !!!!! @@@@!”26 September, 2006 at 7:46 pm #242609The concept of multiculturalism is fine as long as it is applied to in a spirit of friendship and shared basic values.
But one has to accept that multiculturalism has limits and so should not pander to any aspirations of cultural separatism or supremacism of any group.
You know how some people talk about ‘skellingtons’ instead of skeletons, while others, including George W. Bush (who should know better), say ‘nucular’ instead of nuclear. Well too many of the white middle-class PC brigade say ‘multiculurislam’ istead of multiculturalism!
26 September, 2006 at 9:34 pm #242610You and your communist ways are the downfall of this great nation.
What bl**dy stupid idiots you are, is democracy communism, you can’t even understand plain English yourselves, you really are moronic idiots, I’m talking about Democracy you thick b*****ds, your preaching Fascism.
They kept the wrong bits when you were born, they should have kept the afterbirth and thrown you away.

and being unable to speak a foreign language is not against the law
Who suggested it was?
Multiculturalism has long been working in this country
Not all of it. In some incidents, people have been murdered. A guestimate is ten thousand lives lost due to multiculturalism. The amount of discrimination caused by multiculturalism is really bad. Maybe we should wash our hands of a mass diversity society, were not robots unfortunately.

Really? So religious belief comes before the law does it…

Look, if we are supposed to get on in the name of multiculturalism, and people come here from a foreign country cannot be a rsed to learn a few street names, THEN MULTICULTURALISM IS DEAD!!!! That also makes it part of the foreigners fault, they are partly to blame.
Vote BNP, and put a stop to this utter MADNESS!
27 September, 2006 at 8:19 am #242613Vote for the death penalty for racists, a bullet for Tommy. All white supremacists to hang.
