A mates puter is experiencing msn trouble.
He got a mail from someone he knows, when he opened it,
said billgates is a fuckin puff, then everything flashed. Then closed. His msn started sending out similar files to other open contacts.
Since then, he can only access the basic msn but not hotmail and cannot update anything from microsoft or it’s tools. His norton isn’t working now either.
He is running windows xp home and all seems ok there.
Any ideas?

he can’t log onto google at all to download any new antivirus software and fixers that I’ve sent him.
18 March, 2005 at 1:58 pm #105980Is he able to log onto Norton / Symantec’s site to download a tool to remove the virus that he obviously has got? Also it would be a great idea if he updated his Norton anti virus with the latest definitions.
As a last resort he may have to totally reformat his hard disc and re-load Wnn XP Home and start over.
Of course he does have a backup copy of all his valuable data – doesn’t he?????
18 March, 2005 at 4:44 pm #105981I hope so PB lol…..I do know that he’s unable to update norton etc or download any new ones….

26 March, 2005 at 2:27 pm #105983and mates reply to Owen……
”NO SH!T SHERLOCK!!!!”
think that sums it up nicely lol
26 March, 2005 at 4:54 pm #105984Awwwww Owen. Don’t have a go at the bloke because he uses Norton. We all have our likes and dislikes as far as anti virus etc software is concerned. So he maybe didn’t have the latest virus definitions installed and got bitten in the bum. There but for the grace of God ……..!!!
I have been using the Norton / Symantec suite of products for the last several years and I haven’t had any problems with any of them. I accept that not everybody has nice things to say about Norton but that’s the way it goes huh?
Separately Go Go – has your friend’s computer responded to our suggestions and is it all OK now???
26 March, 2005 at 6:28 pm #105985Awwwww Tommy. Its easy to say I guess – but seriously why do you think that Norton is crap???
26 March, 2005 at 7:14 pm #105986Yes I know you think this – but I am curious to know what exactly it did to make you feel this way about Uncle Norton.
I have used it for several years now and have had no problems with it so I am left to wonder if I am missing something here?
