This is probably a silly question, but what is the best type of mouse mat for an optical mouse? Ideally I,d like one without a ball in it. Drives me insane cleaning the poxy thing.
28 November, 2005 at 8:14 pm #172512This is the one I have for my optical mouse – it’s not fabric but has a metal base with a plastic type cover for the mouse – makes it very easy for the mouse to move. I find it more difficult to move an optical mouse on a fabric mat.
I’ve thought too much about it haven’t I ??????? :?

Thanks Morticia, I,ll get that one, cheers. It drives me mad it does.. The mouse won,t work properly because it,s got nothing to grip on, I end up banging it on the desk, NOT a good idea.

Have you got an optical mouse or not? If you have then you don’t need a friction mat. If yours has a ball then it is not an optical mouse and you DO need a friction mat.
p.s your post is too wide!!!!!!
4 December, 2005 at 5:14 pm #172515an optical mouse will run on any surface, it will run on a mat a piece of cardboard virtually anything “but” a polished surface as it reflects its own image and in technical terms confuses the lens, glass and highly polished surfaces are a no no, they are an advantage to a ball mouse as they don’t clog up with the bits that accumalate on the mat, try a remote optical as you can use them virtually anywhere provided it is in the same room.
