Back-from-the-dead canoeist John Darwin and his wife Anne have each been jailed for more than six years for fraudulently claiming £250,000.John Darwin, 57, was jailed for six years and three months after earlier admitting deception by faking his own death in a canoe accident.
Anne Darwin, 56, was given six and a half years for the fraud.
Fishermead paedophile jailed
A paedophile from Fishermead has been jailed for sexually assaulting a child under 13.Stephen Spalding, 45, from Bossiney Place, was sentenced to serve an indeterminate sentence in prison for the public protection at Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday, July 11.
He pleaded guilty to a total of twelve charges, including sexually assaulting a child under 13 and causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
The offences took place between July 1, 2007 and February 12, 2008.
He will serve a minimum term of two years in prison.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: “We are pleased that Spalding has now been sentenced and that he is no longer a threat.
“The sentence he received reflects the seriousness of the offences he committed which have had an immeasurable impact of the lives of his young victim and the family.

Its upsetting when non violent criminals receive higher sentances. But then again crime is crime, so I suppose we have to accept it.
I would have a better prison system in my world, so we could deal with differrent criminals in different ways.
Crime involving money always attracts a higher sentence, its just the way things are.
The guys with all the money need to set an example to the poor who think they can help themselves to a slice, look at the sentences dished out to the great train robbers all those years ago…..totally ott. :)this pair of greedy fekkers deserve all they get. i hope the whole lot of their ill goten gains is found and taken from them, especially since their back up plan to hide it and use it to start again when they get released. having said that, if the government jailed every multi millionaire that fiddled their taxes the jails would be full of hooray henries and their secretaries. it strikes me as one law for us peasants and quite another for the well to do. hey ho… :wink:

If that is true every penny should be paid back.
I take back what I said earlier about it being a non violent crime. Their kids must be completely mortified, and have had to start all over again, so in a sense they are hurt just as much as any victim of crime.
Fancy finding out your dead dad is alive and your mum knew all along… all in the name of money?
Bet they wish they were both dead now.
Then again…. doubt they’d get any insurance….
You have to see this sentence for what it is, a warning for the rest of us.

But how many of us have dream of faking our own deaths, leaving the wife and kids?
We all think it would be easy to start again somewhere new without our “troubles”.
The courts have made it clear, fake your own death and you better stay dead.
Not like John Darwin who foolishly believed he could just walk into a Police station talk this way out of it, drop this wife in the sh1t and get away with it.

But for once, I agree with the homosexual liberal above. The people got what they deserve. Infact, they got less than what they deserve.
