   Given the choice between being crushed by a chubster hug from Cath or by a mobility scooter I think I would take my chances with the scooter..
3 January, 2007 at 4:34 pm #254818I think that’s a wise choice indeed!!!
Anyway the scooters are only allowed to do 8 mph on the roads (maximum) and 6.5 mph on pavements (again maximum).
I have this awful picture in my mind that simply won’t go away. It is of a ”Hell’s Grandpa” on his motorised scooter weaving down a crowded pavement, utterly pissed, and waving a bottle of Scotch in his hand whilst shouting obscenities at all the pedestrians as he drives.
He disappears round the corner leaving a trail of chaos in his wake. No doubt this is what happens to ASBO boys when they grow old.

An example of one of the three I know personally. Some sort of tests should be undertaken.

Shall we all debate further??
If you did happen to “campaign” successfully you would not only have thousands of people not liking you for taking away there only life line to the real world
but u would also be making them less mobile hence being home bound….
do you think that this is fair cas?
i understand your rather upset regarding the dangerour grandpa and his “wayward bound scooter” but just think if that person hadnt had that scooter he wouldnt have been able to get out then would be stuck at home which isnt fair in this day and age.id also urge you to see the inner issues here
your mum`s accident which yes was a shame and is really an accident hasnt only happened to her but has happend to others and they havent been as fortunate as your mam and have had more serious injurys to contend with.
Trying to get a licence on these things would be honestly impossible i could see u standing out side number 10 everyday for a year and still get no response beacause its not gonna happen the man who your saying did this because he was drunk may have been on medication which infact makes him drowsey-yes it does say dont operate machinary or veichals if you have some medication but your never know this
my advice to you would be let this one steer its cause after all
you may end up in one n run some one over and not be drunk you wouldnt like it being put down like this if u was the scooter driver would you??Not having a go just pointing out the facts
OMG!!!!!!!!!! lovely post but find a full stop on your puter……….. you have hurt me head!!
4 January, 2007 at 1:18 am #254821But what if the test is failed? thats alright i suppose because then the dear old pensioner who cant pass a mobility scooter test will have to stay indoors sod their life!
if you cant walk around town and need a scooter then you should be allowed one!
im not wiling to condem a pensioner to their home for the rest of their lives because they cant pass a test.shockingly though! it seems like a crime wave of hit and move away slowly attacks going on!
EXHIBIT A:
this woman clearly isnt looking where she is going and is about to be hit by one of these yobs on a scooter! all she was doing was looking at some greenery and bang!! another victim!
EXHIBIT B:
this one is worse! it is a driver about to run over a group of dogs! not only are these pensioners driving without this license but they are also killing animals!!!
EXHIBIT C:
this one is advertising the dangerous speed of these evil machines!! surely adverts like this should be banned!!
4 January, 2007 at 1:49 am #254822Worse still …. what if you live in sunny Eastbourne??? You know the saying “Dover for the continent, Eastbourne for the incontinent”.
The place is simply crawling with geriatrics – which is why it rejoices in the name of ”Costa Geriatrica”. Everywhere you go there are Hell’s Grannies and Grandpas carreering around at a nippy 5mph on their mobility scooters.
Why shouldn’t they be allowed to pop down to the seafront for a bit of fresh air and a few bevvies??? Grab a curry on the way home and back to bed with a nice cup of Horlicks.
How cruel would it be to confine them to their cold garrets with no entertainment??? Surely you can’t penalise the poor old buggers and deprive them of the little amount of pleasure left to them???
4 January, 2007 at 2:13 am #254823Exactly!!
this is their quadrophenia!
