Father Christmas (or Santa Claus) is a job description. A portly man who dresses up in a Santa outfit IS a Father Christmas. If another similar man dresses in a similar outfit and sits goes to another childrens’ party, he is also a Father Christmas. It’s just like being a traffic warden or a vicar or a soldier.
But children need to learn early that there’s no mythical Santa who flies around in a sleigh pulled by reindeer and squeezes down chimneys to leave presents. Then a few years later they will be prepared for the realisation that there’s no God either.
Oh come on your not serious? This is CHILDREN we are talking about. Children enjoying a bit of make beleive. So what if they think he,s real? Good. Children are only children for a very short time. They have the rest of their lives to be a grumpy grown up. Let them enjoy their childhood and their make beleive.

….and THAT is where you’re quite wrong Bas. I will concede that there is no God and that millions of Christian believers have got it wrong – fair enough – but there most definitely IS a Father Christmas and whatsmore he most definitely flies around in a sleigh pulled by Reindeer. Eight of them to be precise.
Look, this must be so as the Reindeer even have names ffs. If it wasn’t true (as you incorrectly suggest) then the Reindeer wouldn’t have names would they???

I most certainly do have children !!! …. and let me tell you, they ALL believe in Father Christmas and quite rightly so !!!

The Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, Santa, all have make-believe abilities to reach out around the world and for one moment make the life of a child that much more special. Yes they do grow up, and yes they will realise that it isn’t true. Why anyone would want to destroy the magic and wonder just because they want the child to grow up and realise life isn’t like that is beyond me. We all believed in the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy, and Santa, we believed that a bunny could deliver millions of eggs, that a tiny fairy took away our teeth, and that a happy man in a red suit visited all the good boys and girls around the world.
The world is a hard enough place to be in, and if a mythical man flying around the world with 8 reindeer brings happiness to a child, so what! Far better to have something to believe in, than to have no dreams at all.

Something is really really wrong here.
Santa has EIGHT Reindeer – even the picture half way through the video shows EIGHT. Everybody knows that Santa has EIGHT Reindeer ….. and yet …… and yet ….. Gene Autrey has got it all wrong!!!
The song starts by naming them:
1 Dasher
2. Dancer
3. Prancer
4. Vixen
5. Comet
6. Cupid
7. Donner
8. BlitzenEIGHT …. right???
So where does Rudolph come into it then, Eh??? Eh???
