If you fancy being a Beta tester for MS Office System 2007 (Beta) you can get it by download or on DVD for around £6.86 + VAT (if you are in the UK). It is a fully functioning version but is only ‘active’ until Feb next year. After that it will have limited functionality BUT you can buy a licence at a heavily discounted price.
My advice is to try Office 2007 Pro as this seems to offer the most bangs for your buck.
See more about it here —> http://www.microsoft.com/uk/office/preview/default.mspx

not sure if i should trust a microsoft beta product again, but tempted to give it a go, might encoruage me to get that CV finished
28 May, 2006 at 5:13 pm #221163My guess is that it will perform OK – even though it is still a Beta programme.
I have ordered it by DVD, as opposed to downloading it. It’s quite a big program and I find that it is better to pick bits off a DVD / CD rather than try to mess with a bloody great downloaded file.
One thing I would like some views on is this:
I currently have Microsoft Office 2003 Pro installed (Word; Excel; Outlook; Powerpoint; One note; Visio; Access etc etc). If I separately install MS Office 2007 (Beta) will the new version of say Word; Excel; Outlook or whatever mess up my existing 2003 version???
I am particularly bothered that Outlook 2007 may interfeoe with Outlook 2003 as i use the Business contact Manager (BCM) add in a lot and would hate to corrupt any data.
Anybody got any advice???
28 May, 2006 at 6:07 pm #221164my advice is, if it is’nt broken don’t try and fix it, office xp works well enough for what I need it to do, so thats why i am not tempted to install this beta just yet, though i must admit I am a littly nosey to see how it looks, and I would’nt mind a version of Outlook that works better then the one I currently have, which i find to be messy to say the least, but thats my personal preference
the thing about downloading a beta version, microsoft will state they are not liable for anything going wrong, maybe check out the forums, no doubt somone somewhere has installed it already, did’nt like it and has un installed it back to the previous version
downloading big problems is no longer a problem for me, a 400mb download will only take 10 mins at the most now, amazing when to think 10 years ago, downloading 10mb of file was unthinkable
29 May, 2006 at 4:20 pm #221165all seems fine apart from for some reason it can’t check my emails, even though the settings are exactly the same as they are in express, outlook does’nt like it, keeps asking me to re enter my password
29 May, 2006 at 11:14 pm #221166ok i fixed that part now.. was my caps lock key
an annoying part of office 2007 though, is the constant pop ups that ask me to download extra things that i don’t want
there is no.. please don’t remind me button, everytime you load it up, it appears
apart from that, its great.. nice set out, nice colours, looks and feels smart
