He was no more a saint than any of us pete, but he wasn’t the devil incarnate some would like to portray him as either thats all i’m saying, i’ve seen just in the chat rooms the thank god he’s dead the pedo blah de blah, thats what gets my goat, people judge on something that was not only proven not guilty for, but seem to relish saying these things, i agree with you the media are too blame for most things tbh both good and bad everything is played both up and down by them, and too many people believe every word.
But as you say, he gave us amazing pop, and in the words of abba “thank you for the music” MJ xx

There’s some i’d kill and sleep ok at night ..(baby P’s killers for example) .. but i wouldnt relish in it
I suppose he’s dead now whatever the truth it doesnt really matter, i’d just like the middle ground between hysteria and hate really

well like i said earlier read the truth and make
your own mind up , if your like me , someone who
can recall the past , as it happened at the time then
fine , blessed with a good memory i maybe , but also
i know right from wrong when i see it at the time.

If i appear to ” be on one ” , or ” over the top ” then fine
so be it , but remember how fragile being a good person
can be when people are out to extort from you for pure financial
gain when your life and good name mean nothing.
If every allegation ever made was true most of us would
be guilty of something and the UK would be a floating
    prison , think about that.

The following information is true and is only a small part
of what happened. The families in question were the one’s
who tried to gain financially by in-human , low-life acts of
pure greed. The time-lines may not be in chronological
order but the facts remain the same.

R.I.P. Michael x , may you finally be left in peace .

In August 1998 the Arvizo family was detained on a shoplifting charge at a J. C. Penney department store in West Covina, California. According to J. C. Penney, Gavin and Star Arvizo were sent out of the store by their father with an armload of stolen clothes, the family was detained and Janet started a “scuffle” with security officers. The shoplifting charge was dropped, but Janet filed a lawsuit for $3 million, saying that when she was detained she was “viciously beaten” by three security officers, one of whom was female.[8] The psychiatrist hired by J. C. Penney to evaluate Janet Arvizo found her to have rehearsed her children into supporting her story and to be both “delusional” and “depressed,” although Janet’s own doctor found her to be only the latter.[8] More than two years after the original alleged incident Janet added a further charge that one of the male officers had “sexually fondled” her breasts and pelvis area for “up to seven minutes”.[8] Ultimately the department store settled out of court with the family for $137,000.[8]
Gavin Arvizo, the accuser, was born in December 1989. He was 13 years old in February and March 2003 when the alleged crimes were said to have been committed. In 2000, the accuser was diagnosed with cancer and had his spleen and a kidney removed. Jackson paid Gavin Arvizo’s medical expenses and accommodated transport for his chemotherapy treatment.[

His father, David Arvizo, visited Neverland several times in 2000, sometimes with the whole family, other times with just the children. After 2000, the accuser’s parents were divorced, and his mother had custody over him and his older sister and younger brother. In 2002 David Arvizo pleaded no contest to spousal abuse and in 2003 pleaded no contest to child cruelty.[8] After having completed classes in parenting and anger management the father applied for having a three-year restraining order against him temporarily lifted, to allow him to see his three children.[8] He claimed he wanted to see for himself how his son’s health was, and hoped to find out whether the boy and Jackson had sexual contact. He blamed his ex-wife for allowing the boy to sleep in the same room with Jackson, and also claimed that she has been in a mental hospital.
As of late 2004 David insists “my children are routinely rehearsed by their mother Janet to do or say whatever she wishes.”[8]

When the Arvizo Family and Jackson were on good terms she encouraged all the children to call Jackson “Daddy,” even though he had three children of his own.[8] The accuser’s mother, Janet Arvizo, now known as Janet Jackson after marrying Jay Jackson, has been identified as the most problematic of the prosecution witnesses. Her behavior of snapping her fingers and staring at the jurors was criticized by jurors after the trial.[14][not in citation given] She was often unresponsive to questioning, even by the prosecution. She seemed to argue defensively over seemingly small issues, such as whether she had a body wax or only a leg wax. She even accused the defense of altering a receipt for the body wax. Questions were often answered with speeches or catch-phrases, rather than answers. She made repeated use of a few catch phrases, such as “It’s burned inside my memory”, “Money doesn’t buy happiness”,[15] and testified to the sheriff that Jackson wanted to kidnap her and the family with a “hot air balloon”.[16] There were often instances when the court erupted in laughter over her answers.[15]

On November 20, Jackson flew in a leased jet to Santa Barbara Airport and surrendered himself to California police. Driven by police to the Santa Barbara County Jail, he emerged from the police vehicle in handcuffs. Images of Jackson handcuffed caused outrage around the world as it was viewed as unnecessary considering he had willingly handed himself into the police without hesitation and was clearly not going to cause violence or attempt escape. Many lawyers and Jackson supporters saw it as a police and media attempt to convince the public of Jackson’s guilt, while some saw a racial element to the polices actions.[8][17][18] He was charged with “lewd or lascivious acts” with a child younger than 14 under section 288(a) of the California Penal Code.

On November 25, 2003 it was revealed that unknown to Jackson, the private jet that was chartered to take him and his attorney from Vegas to California was secretly wired with recording devices. A third party took recordings on this trip and attempted to sell them to major television and radio networks for an extremely large amount of money; all declined to purchase. A restraining order against the jet company has been issued prohibiting the videotape from being shown to any third parties; a massive lawsuit topping the $500,000,000 mark has been filed by Jackson’s party against the perpetrators.[citation needed] On November 26, 2003, it was revealed that XtraJet, the company that found the recordings and hidden cameras on Jackson’s plane, on Monday, showed the video to several news organizations on November 24. FOX News reported that the tape shows Jackson calm and relaxed on the plane. [20] Jackson’s legal team (at that point) were awarded $18 million in damages in 2008.[21]

    • Wade Robson confirmed that he had slept in the same bed with Jackson, but he denied that anything inappropriate ever happened, including inappropriate touching.[24] Robson’s mother, Joy, admitted in cross-examination that her son went missing for three days with Jackson, causing the police to get involved. But, like the sleepovers, she was confident this was all innocent, and her son confirmed it.[26] She said that she trusted Jackson and considered him to be a member of her family.[24] Joy Robson testified that Jordan Chandler and his mother were often at Neverland when she and Wade were, and she felt that Chandler’s mother was a “gold digger” who treated Neverland as if it were her own and wanted to be its “mistress.”[27] Robson’s sister Chantal testified that she had slept in Jackson’s room four times during her childhood with her brother and never witnessed anything inappropriate.[24]
    • Brett Barnes slept in the same room as Jackson for a year according to the testimony of Barnes’ sister, Karlee. Barnes testified that Jackson did not act inappropriately: “No, I wouldn’t stand for it.”[24][27] Barnes’ mother Marie testified that nothing ever happened between her son and Jackson.[24]

People v. Jackson (full case name: The People of the State of California v. Michael Joseph Jackson) was a 2005 child sexual abuse trial involving recording artist Michael Jackson. The alleged victim was a boy, Gavin Arvizo, referred to as “The Accuser”. Arvizo was 13 years old at the time of the alleged crimes. Michael Jackson was indicted for four counts of molesting a minor, four counts of intoxicating a minor, one count of abduction, and one count of conspiring to hold the boy and his family captive at his 2700-acre Neverland Ranch compound.[1] He denied all counts and asserted that he himself was the victim of a failed extortion attempt. On June 13, 2005, the jury found Jackson not guilty on all charges.

Jackson donated and raised millions of dollars for beneficial causes through his foundations, charity singles, and support of 39 charities. Other aspects of his personal life, including his often changing appearances and eccentric behavior, generated significant controversy which damaged his public image. Though he was accused of child sexual abuse in 1993, the criminal investigation was closed due to lack of evidence and Jackson was not charged. The singer had experienced health concerns since the early 1990s and conflicting reports regarding the state of his finances since the late 1990s. Jackson married twice and fathered three children, actions which caused further controversy. In 2005, Jackson was tried and acquitted of further sexual abuse allegations and several other charges.

Jackson claimed that he was physically and emotionally abused by his father from a young age, enduring incessant rehearsals, whippings and name-calling. But he also credited his father’s strict discipline as playing a large part in his success. [7][8] In one altercation—later recalled by Marlon Jackson—Joseph held Michael upside down by one leg and “pummeled him over and over again with his hand, hitting him on his back and buttocks”.[9] Joseph would also trip or push his male children into walls. One night while Jackson was asleep, Joseph climbed into his room through the bedroom window. Wearing a fright mask, he entered the room screaming and shouting. Joseph said he wanted to teach his children not to leave the window open when they went to sleep. For years afterwards, Michael said he suffered nightmares about being kidnapped from his bedroom.[9]

Jackson first spoke openly about his childhood abuse in a 1993 interview with Oprah Winfrey. He said that during his childhood he often cried from loneliness and would sometimes start to vomit upon seeing his father.[10][11][12][13] In Jackson’s other high profile interview, Living with Michael Jackson (2003), the singer covered his face with his hand and began crying when talking about his childhood abuse.[9] Jackson recalled that Joseph sat in a chair with a belt in his hand as he and his siblings rehearsed and that “if you didn’t do it the right way, he would tear you up, really get you”.[14]
Jackson gave a 90-minute interview with Oprah Winfrey in February 1993, his first television interview since 1979. He grimaced when speaking of his childhood abuse at the hands of his father; he believed he had missed out on much of his childhood years, admitting that he often cried from loneliness. He denied previous tabloid rumors that he bought the bones of the Elephant Man or slept in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. The entertainer went on to dispel suggestions that he bleached his skin, stating for the first time that he had vitiligo. The interview was watched by 90 million Americans, becoming the fourth most-viewed non-sport program in US history. It also started a public debate on the topic of vitiligo, a relatively unknown condition before then. Dangerous re-entered the album chart top 10, more than a year after its original release.[10][11][76]

Jackson was accused of child sexual abuse by a 13-year-old child named Jordan Chandler and his father Evan Chandler.[83] The friendship between Jackson and Evan Chandler broke down. Sometime afterwards, Evan Chandler was tape-recorded saying amongst other things, “If I go through with this, I win big-time. There’s no way I lose. I will get everything I want and they will be destroyed forever…Michael’s career will be over”.[84] A year after they had met, under the influence of sodium amytal, a controversial sedative, Jordan Chandler told his father that Jackson had touched his penis.[85] Evan Chandler and Jackson, represented by their legal teams, then engaged in unsuccessful negotiations to resolve the issue in a financial settlement; the negotiations were initiated by Chandler but Jackson did make several counter offers. Jordan Chandler then told a psychiatrist and later police that he and Jackson had engaged in acts of kissing, masturbation and oral sex, as well as giving a detailed description of what he alleged were the singer’s genitals.[86]

An official investigation began, with Jordan Chandler’s mother adamant that there was no wrongdoing on Jackson’s part. Neverland Ranch was searched; multiple children and family members denied that he was a pedophile.[86] Jackson’s image took a further turn for the worse when his older sister La Toya Jackson accused him of being a pedophile, a statement she later retracted.[87] Jackson agreed to a 25-minute strip search, conducted at his ranch. The search was required to see if a description provided by Jordan Chandler was accurate. Doctors concluded that there were some strong similarities, but it was not a definitive match.[87] Jackson made an emotional public statement on the events; he proclaimed his innocence, criticized what he perceived as biased media coverage and told of his strip search.[83]

Jackson began taking painkillers, Valium, Xanax and Ativan to deal with the stress of the allegations made against him. By the fall of 1993, Jackson was addicted to the drugs.[88] His health deteriorated to the extent that he canceled the remainder of the Dangerous World Tour and went into drug rehabilitation for a few months.[89] The stress of the allegations also caused Jackson to stop eating, and he lost a significant amount of weight.[90] With his health in decline, Jackson’s friends and legal advisers took over his defense and finances; they called on him to settle the allegations out of court, believing that he could not endure a lengthy trial.[89][90]
Tabloid reaction to the allegations put Jackson in an unfavorable light.[91] Complaints about the coverage and media included everything from bias against Jackson, accepting stories of alleged criminal activity for money to accepting confidential leaked material from the police investigation in return for money paid.[92] On January 1, 1994, Jackson settled with the Chandler family and their legal team out of court, in a civil lawsuit for $22 million. After the settlement Jordan Chandler refused to continue with police regarding criminal proceedings. Jackson was never charged, and the state closed its criminal investigation, citing lack of evidence.[93]

    Painkillers for stress ?
Far as i can tell no one here is trying to make him out the monster and none of us are perfect but “come on round play on my fun fair then come sleep in my bed” is not normal behaviour it just isnt, and some people are merely dampening the “world has lost a God ” hysteria.
The jury couldnt find him guilty there wasnt enough evidence but they thought there was something to the allegations. No one is saying (least i aint) that he was a raging paedophile, i dont believe he was, neither was he the next best thing to Mother Teresa and his childhood probably was f*cked up.
It’s Princess Diana all over again almost, the world has lost a talented performer and for many that’s sad and for his family it’s heartbreaking but it’s beginning to be almost a circus.
I didnt start the thread because i thought it was funny… it was a shock.. but i’m over that shock. He was who he was partly through the music and partly through the publicity good or bad. Far sadder for me was the death (sometime ago) of Gene Pitney a talented world renowned singer who didnt court publicity and died alone in a Welsh hotel room on tour.
Just needs to be in context thats all.

If there is a God and there is a heaven i hope he’s there

    There’s also the Cleethorpes connection.

Rod Temperton (from Cleethorpes), because it was he, Jones and Jackson that came up with ‘Off the wall’, which he also wrote the two biggest hits for, the title track and ‘Rock with you’. They brought him back for ‘Thriller’ for which he wrote ‘The lady in my life’ and ‘Baby be mine’. Then he wrote ‘Thriller’.

And that’s it really. He wrote the title track for the biggest selling album of all time, although not a number one it was the song (and video of course) that launched Michael Jackson into megastardom. And he never gets mentioned for it. He even picked Vincent Price for the speaking part, which he wrote in a cab on the way to the studio.
