Hi all,
I wonder if we can start a small charity group for justchat users. We
can discuss charity/helping people and maybe do some fundraising here.I have met many kind people in JC and I know money/time is very tight and so
forth. Perhaps we can unite and make a very small difference.. petition,
ideas, fundraising, something not too controversial/divisive.Bye for now. Take care.

28 September, 2017 at 9:49 pm #1072237Always someone begging for money, streets have charities pestering pedestrians, phones ringing from claims companies, PPI claims and now online we have to fork out… have a day off ffs. If you have a charity , why not start a just giving page instead of begging regs here for cash. It’s a chatroom not a humanitarian aid site where people should feel obliged to give cash. I also have an issue with the scandal involved with many of these charities where the money donated doesn’t go to the cause and ends up lining the pockets of those running it .
An unregistered user asking for charity money on jc, no thanks .. if I want to donate to a charity I dont need some patronising post from someone organising it on my behalf. … https://www.gov.uk/government/news/be-aware-of-suspect-donations-advice-for-charities

Excellent idea Guy, communities can come together and make a big difference, including online and Facebook etc is raising millions this way. If you come up with any interesting ideas I will certainly contribute.

I agree, but please let me explain, why go both ways.
Very familiar I do this type of charity work in my community. When we have local town events/fairs so forth, we have business community day as well. No MONEY is asked for, materials provided about business, what does, mission work statements call it. This is all. What stand for, what service provide, make sense. U are marketing what Jc is through your local communities.
As far as raising money, often local merchants, sell hats, tee shirts, mugs with logo. Sweatshirts. This represents them when wearing out in public. Oh that is a local pub, did not know, what is the phone number?
And a place like this, you do not have your owners of business take charge of money. You get a board of long time regulars, who run the charity and apply it to jc. Leaving them out of control…make sense. This is how know done.
Have been involved over years with charity.
Breast cancer awareness, local animal shelter in community 20 years. Victims of homeless occurrences due to fire, no home..food. shelter, clothing. Senior living Xmas presents, headstart programs for children in poverty levels. Need shoes, coats, backpacks, snacks, school supplies..
War veterans, housing needs, low income. Soup kitchens.Sorry, just naming a few.
I took to the author of this thread as sharing what jc chat about bringing not only old members back from changes now made, new introduction of them getting new members….Whew.. ok.
Make sense….

28 September, 2017 at 10:24 pm #1072261I think many that use JC are actually fairly vulnerable themselves and would be more likely to be receiving money from charities rather than giving what little money some may have. I have spoken to a many regs in the rooms, without giving names there are a few who are in supported accommodation etc and others with various issues… it’s not the place to be asking for money from these people. We have a wide range of chatters on here, some affluent but many are possibly socially isolated and come here perhaps due to ill health etc that don’t want to be bombarded with requests for money every time they log on.
This is a chatsite.. lets keep it that way and not turn it into some marketing place with people asking for your credit card details. Haven’t we got enough of that already?

You constantly take the piss out of mental health and mental health users on these boards Alfie, I very nearly commented the other day when you did, I also observed that the Florence Nightingales on this site didn’t pick up on it at all. So you Sir are a total hypocrite and so are they.

Understand, noted.
Thanks for response
