I don’t see Ms M’s suggestion as fully practicable, as when you’re accused of horrible things you do need to defend yourself.
There are some people here who have worked out ways of keeping an argument going when everybody has ceased to listen to the arguments.
They can’t be stopped.
But I do see Ms M’s point. I do see her frustration at seeing so many threads turning into personal and sustained nastiness.
All I can say and try to do is to act within reason, not to over-react by multiple attacks.
I can’t promise,because that’s the nature of being ‘flamed’.
Not all are like this. QuinetessentialParadox, like norfolk mafia etc before him, can mix in some pretty crude comments with reasoned argument.
The argument I sometimes respect, often hate, but they are arguemnts, and I try to separate argument from flaming.
But generally I think restraint is the best way in which to carry out ms M’s sensible suggestion, and will try not to respond to flaming.
