30 July, 2009 at 7:11 am #397970I had a traditional wedding ….. about a million years ago now…cost my widowed mum a fortune but she scrimped and saved to give me the best she could. I also contributed. I know my mum felt it was her duty to pay for my wedding. The cost for the whole wedding was nearly £10,000 27 years ago.
My neice is getting married in August. The cost for the afternoon reception alone is £40,000! My poor brother has estimated a total cost of about £60,000 plus a smidgen more. While we (3 siblings) are all helping out there is only so much he will accept. My niece would rather have the big wedding over the cash to spend as they please. How crazy is that????
Will we ever stop paying the price for spoiling our children and trying to give them the best we can :roll:24 September, 2009 at 3:47 pm #397971@kent f OBE wrote:

I’m sorry, but I’d have to hire an Hypnotist, and make the guests each donate £50.00 on their way out. In fact, double that for being cheeky and coming.. I can’t see why my Marriage proposal was refused two weeks ago.. Perhaps she weren’t ready..
