I think Benfica have improved tho BM – I fear Celtic have gone backwards. Maybe their two new signings will change things tho and Kenny Miller has to come good eventually! I will be cheering them on that’s for sure (well, in Europe anyway ;)).
I agree with you..Benfica have a solid midfield….That is where alot of there play come from, because they are a very creative team.

13 September, 2006 at 8:52 pm #238035Great thrilling game I thought.
13 September, 2006 at 9:20 pm #238036could have been 11-4 to be honest to united, gravesen looked really out of shape mind for celtic, expected better from him, your keeper kept it reasonable, saha could have had 6
13 September, 2006 at 9:27 pm #238037It’s only scores on the doors at the end that matter Matt. It was to be expected that Celtic would be under the cosh for most of the game. That’s what happens in away games in Europe, certainly when teams visit Old Trafford.
Celtic not only opened the scoring, but got back into the game when they were 2-1 down. Aside from a very dubious penalty, and a mistake by Gravesen we would have got something from the game.
We were set up as sacrificial lambs, and I thought we gave as good as we got, especially in the 1st Half.
Celtic will beat Man Utd at Parkhead and qualify from this group.13 September, 2006 at 10:49 pm #238038@Bad Manners wrote:

It was a dubious penalty that brought Man U back into the game – who knows what would have happened had that not been awardedApart from that the performance of the night was :
Leeds 0 SUNDERLAND 3
13 September, 2006 at 10:59 pm #238039Nonsense.
Sure the better team won, but it doesnt matter. Celtic were the away team on the night. 3,4,5-0 were predicted by the media and some pundits. Anything we got tonight would have been a bonus. Not many team’s will go to Old Trafford this season, take the lead, lose the lead and manage to back into the game. When this team’s gelled a bit more over the next few weeks we’ll be ready for the home game.14 September, 2006 at 7:25 am #238040can’t see you getting anything at all from the home leg
well done sunderland, keano is installing some real passion into them already, sunderland have become for me, a team i just could’nt stand to watch through sheer bordness (though mccartheys post match interviews were great) to a team a follow, and hope they do well, since keano has been installed, all the best to him, a great result
14 September, 2006 at 3:04 pm #238041We’ll see after the home leg Matt. Having home advantage in Europe is a huge advantage as we witnessed last night.
With a big home crowd behind us at Parkhead? Absolutely! -
