The Malaysian carmaker Proton has announced plans to develop an “Islamic car”, designed for Muslim motorists.
Proton is planning on teaming up with manufacturers in Iran and Turkey to create the unique vehicle.The car could boast special features like a compass pointing to Mecca and a dedicated space to keep a copy of the Koran and a headscarf.
The idea came during a visit to the Middle East by a delegation of Malaysian politicians and businessmen.
Malaysian press reports say officials in Iran originally suggested the idea.
Safety features or fuel economy is one way of selling a car, but Proton thinks vehicles designed specifically for Muslims across the world represent a huge gap in the market.
Proton is the most dominant car on the streets here but the company has suffered recently after the government allowed more foreign cars to be imported.
The firm has been in talks recently with VW about a takeover by the German car giant.
And it doesnt mention if the boot will be big enough for their wife either :lol: :lol:
It sounds like they don’t need to develop a muslim car as such, but just an islamic version of each of their models. This sounds like a clever marketing move because then they can develop christian versions too, with a St. Christopher to pray to before you drive like hell!
Isn’t it islam that forbids men to make anything perfect because only God can make things perfect? Hence the Peykan car made in Iran until recently, which was in fact the good old Hillman Hunter made here until the mid ’70’s, was one of the most badly built cars ever!
canwe have a version for infidels with loud music revving engines and speakers as big as the boot. [oh dear too late for that the asians have the corner in suped up impretsas with said stereos etc. not very muslim that tho is it ? does the wife get a skateboard to make sure she stays behind her owner ?
will they all operate on one lisence like the taxis do i huddersfield centre.
