The difference between Birmingham and Liverpool however is that Liverpool can still play badly all season and qualify for Europe while Birmingham, despite one good game against a top flight club, are still under-achievers.
i would’nt call beating liverpool anything to write home about this season, they have been both great and poor all season.. so inconsistant, to beat them, you just have to be lucky you got them on the right day
birmingham can be proud for what they have achived as there goals are set a lot lower then liverpools
Surely Birmingham are under achieving though Soulie if they are capable of playing Liverpool of the park and are still only a mid table club ???
Liverpool are still very inconsistent but a lot of that is down to the swapping and changing of the team with all the injuries. Also a new manager getting to know the players and 7 new signings.
I think they are actually over achieving in Europe as we are not as good as the other teams at the moment but are still in there with a good chance of reaching the last 8 !!!As for it being nothing to write home about beating us………..well you wouldn’t think so as they seem to be talked about on here and by you in particular more often than not !!
Also…..most grounds highest gate in the Premiership is when Liverpool or United come to town.So it would seem it is a big deal to beat us to most fans.23 February, 2005 at 12:30 pm #104120no i consider beating a rsenal or chelsea a bigger feat to be honest..
last night is the best i seen liverpool play all season.. and that was without probably the two best players they have got
at the start of the season.. birmingham would have settled for mid table.. i very much doubt liverpool would have settled for anything worse then 4th place, its how i see it, they are a big team.. they set them self targets of playing with the big teams every year in europe

Your manager says every season that The Liverpool game is the big one !!
I don’t think we played that well really last night.I thought we played a lot better against Ar$enal and Chelsea at home and Charlton away.
Birmingham made a lot of signings pre season and would have hoped to be challenging for Europe.Liverpool are achieving there goals for this season even though they have been hampered by injuries.
5 April, 2005 at 5:42 pm #104122Just off to the match now,
Slightly nervous but anything more in this competition is a bonus really.
I just hope we aren’t over friendly to Juventus as im sure it’s going to be very hostile over there next week.I just hope we are still in the tie after tonight,
I’ve had a bet on us drawing at both half time and full time.

7 April, 2005 at 6:28 pm #104125Suprised to see Liverpool doing so well in it. :? They havent got that bit of extra je ne sais qui that the other teams have. They’ve got this far though. They could easily win it. My money would still b on Chelsea or Milan though.
