It’s got to be Gerrard Houlier for me…. Five trophies within a year

    FA Cup V Ars enal
    UEFA Cup V Alaves
    Worthington Cup V Birmingham
    Charity Shield V Man Utd
    Super Cup V Bayern Munich

I might be wrong, But I don’t think any other team in England has done it.

Some of those are considered “lesser” trophies though. Some of the Liverpool managers of the past must have won the league and european cup in one season. and they probably sustained it with more trophies in the following seasons. Bob Paisley must have done that. I would say that makes them more successful than Houllier.

He is remembered as a bit of joke in these parts now !!

    It’s Paisley….closely followed by Shankley without a doubt !!

Most successful manager was Paisley and although inheriting a side went on to form his own teams. Paisley for me is the most successful manager in British history.

Both Shankly and Paisley aren’t scousers mate.

far easier to attract top players when you have a current succesful team
    shankly by a country mile
