smith him self thanked the liverpool fans, only a few of them decided to taunt him, some united fans probably would have done the same if rolls were reveresd

But Owen wasn’t criticising Liverpool fans, it was an ironic statement that these people would claim to be fans of Liverpool yet actually do nothing to serve either the football club or the city of Liverpool by their actions.
