71…the year of decimalisation in the UK and Ireland, the end of the old pounds, shilling and pence and the dawn of the new pounds and pennies.
It was supposed to make things easier but you wouldn’t have thought so in the first few years! 8 years later I worked in a shop for a few months and elderly people were still handing you their purses or wallets and telling you to take what you needed, they couldn’t get the hang of the this new money.
