I agree pebbles all dogs can be trained and be docile and loving when they are domesticated i am not deny that fact, even a wolf can be.
But a beagle was infact a hare hunting hound a fox hound is a different breed anyway.
But they are both naturally scent hounds and scent to find their prey and kill it wether it be a fox a rabbit or a hare.
It is a natural instinct to scent hunt not something that is force trained into them.30 March, 2008 at 4:17 pm #320879without the owners firstly and foremostly offering their stock adequate protection and using alternative methods rather than jumping on the nearest horse and blowing a fucking trumpet or whatever that pointless piece of brass is.

30 March, 2008 at 4:21 pm #320881as ive previously said Pats u find a way of finding that adequate protection in an open field brilliant!! you’ll make a fortune i tell you.
Farmers fight tooth and nail to save every single one of their stocks offspring so if u can find the way great, but its impossible unless as i said u leave them shut up in a stock shed in teh dark 24 /7 and even then foxes are mighty clever at getting in but yes you probably could make a shed fox proof just with hard concrete flooring and metal sheds, but what a life for the sheep and lambs and wouldnt your lamb roast taste delish !!lol30 March, 2008 at 4:23 pm #320882so if hooray henrys dont find chasing foxes amusing….why do they wear fancy dress.and smear a childs face attending his first kill.with the foxes blood?
30 March, 2008 at 4:27 pm #320883But they dont take healthy lambs they take still born mainly as the ewe will protect its offspring and the fox is no match for the ewe. Also as previously stated the fox is territorial you aint gonna have a horde of foxes descending on a lambing field.
I’ll give the farmers an alternative if its that big a problem make the field harder to get in and leave food (like still born lambs) for the fox where it is easily accessible i reckon i know which the fox would choose. Fact is hunting generates cash for the farmer and i would bet a pound to a penny the main pro hunting brigade are in grouse rearing areas not lambing30 March, 2008 at 4:29 pm #320884@pete wrote:

poor old pete. don’t tell him about santa ffs.
you just dont get it at all do ya
The trouble with you pete is that you’re the one who doesn’t get it.
You’re not bothered about foxes at all.
This ais all about you feeling good about yourselfand feeling ‘needed’ by society.
The truth is society doesn’t need you.
It doesn’t need anyone such as you who has such politcally correct views.
You’re a tree hugger, a woolly jumper wearing, bearded clip board owner of a person.
You don’t argue the case for foxes .. you’re a spoiler.
A spoiler who can’t see further than the ned of his nose.
What do you say about the hundreds of dogs who are destroyed by vets each week because they are unwanted by their owners??
You say f*ck all!!
What do you say about the slaughter of lambs who are taken away from their mothers each day just so that you can have a nice sunday lunch??
Again, you say f*ck all!
Foxes are worth fighting for are they?
Why would that be??
You are just as brainwashed as the average placard waving numpty who thinks he can contribute to this world..but you’re just led along with the crowd.
You’re not a humanitarian. Just a follower of fashion.
That is the rea ltruth of the matter.30 March, 2008 at 4:30 pm #320885@pete wrote:
and i’d still argue why cull them at all
They are territorial Pete agreed but saying that 1 vixen very often as 1-2 suitors so it may or may not increase i really dont know, you could be right maybe we should stop and see if they kill themselves off but the increase in foxes in the last couple of years with the foot and mouth ban and now the fox hunting ban isnt pointing that way. We definately have an increase here.
But the hunting ban in a few years time may well give us our answers.30 March, 2008 at 4:31 pm #320886@sir Actor wrote:

That is the rea ltruth of the matter. It would be better if you argued with the points made rather than the person making them. I thought this debate was going rather well without the usual mud slinging.
I spose somebody had to do it though
