Right the reason you are having so much trouble is this:
Programs are broad cast in differnet formats and screen sizes.
Most good tv’s have a “auto” setting that changes the size screen and pic set’s.
It sounds like you have not turn it on or don’t have this on your tv.
29 July, 2008 at 3:17 pm #357917The screen size of programs is determined through my sky box, its set to 16.9 ratio. Thanks, but that does not appear to be the main problem here.
Ive found some other settings in a dymanic mode that may work for the footy channels, will hope and pray.

if you bought cheap HDMI leads you’ll have problems
No need for HDMI leads yet, its running on decent scart leads. I dont have a hd source to run it off, so dont need to use those types of leads.
It goes dvd>tv and sky>vcr>tv or something like that, but the links are fine its the actual tuning for a perfect picture thats a difficulty.
I now have about 15 different lists from the net that people recommend as their own perfect settings, so its a case of going through those lists and finding which suits me best. Bearing in mind each list has at least 15/20 different options that need setting its pretty time consuming!

What about all the others?
There about 8 of them !!!
29 July, 2008 at 3:25 pm #35792016.9 is standard for sky.
Ive not even started on the wii and dvd/vcr/freeveiw settings yet, but all the forums Ive been looking at recommend either 16.9, which is what im used to anyway, or autowide. That setting appears to be the least of my worries at the moment.

29 July, 2008 at 3:55 pm #357922Im on a great deal with sky, got sky+, internet and phone and everything. Im not upgrading to HD for the sake of 15 channels which are the amount broadcast in hd right now.
Plus from what Ive read whether you have HD or not people are still having difficulties in getting the right picture settings, even through top grade game consoles etc.
its these bloody foreigners who build the tellys and send them over with shop settings built in as standard.
29 July, 2008 at 5:55 pm #357923Theirs is LG shazza, seems to be ok now after steve footering with it. they have SKY too. son has one and im asking him right now, bit he is through virgin, and he literally just plugged it in with no problem. im not suggesting ya give up Sky if your happy with it. but im getting the vibe its more difficult fine tuning with Sky. but ye will get it hen :)..
