In the meantime the rich get richer, the extra taxes are unimportant to them and the poor , well they’re poor they don’t matter.

Perhaps you’d better have a word with your socialist master then and explain to them the principle of not spending more than you earn.

13 years in power for Labour and like every Labour government before them they left higher unemployment and an economy in ruins. Yet still 30% of the population vote for them, suckers!

UNTRUE… after Thatcher, councils barely recovered, and were just about getting there. She sold off all the council houses etc. meaning folks bought and played with Monopoly money, causing almost civil unrest and homelessness.. she privatised things that are now a shambles ! She sytematically carved up working class communities, especially in the stong mining towns of Yorkshire and FIFE. She attempted the abolision of the Trade Unions..

as long as ONE of us remain. there is power in the Union..

NO ONE WITH a CONSCIENCE ever voted Tory !

She was forced into that by socialist incompetence, inefficient nationalised industries losing billions, idiot trade unions striking and making them uneconomic compared to the rest of the world. Bodies lying unburied on the streets of Liverpool due to a strike. She gave hope to thousands by letting them buy their homes and escape the socialist slums Labour had produced. removed the shackles of the closed shop and put the unions back in their place.

No one but a fool could be a socialist, it never works, it never will and only an imbecile believes it can.

Did having to call in the IMF because we were broke? Labour wrecked Britain, they always do it because they can’t grasp the principle of not spending more than they take in. Britain was a basket-case in the 1970s – an “offshore banana republic”, a land of perpetual power cuts, strikes and unburied bodies that’s why millions had to lose their jobs, industries and communities had to be destroyed and billions had to be handed over to the wealthy. Britain in the 70s felt like the Soviet bloc, where men with “bad teeth and ill-fitting suits” (union leaders) called the shots in public life. Labour paved the way for Thatcherism with the then prime minister Jim Callaghan’s public conversion to monetarism in 1976 and the most savage public spending and real wage cuts since the war. That in turn triggered the much mythologised Winter of Discontent – an entirely avoidable revolt of low-paid public service workers against a self-defeating determination to beat an inflationary crisis at their expense.
Did they learn? No, over the last 13 years Labour spent 48% of our income, yet failed to deliver decent services. They promised prosperity, yet taxed and regulated our economy into stasis. They talked up social justice, yet consigned millions to welfare dependency.

Don’t tell me tales about the 70’s and 80’s I lived through them, I learned exactly what socialism meant and why it should never be allowed near the reins of power.

Much as i love a reasoned argument anyone who thinks Maggie was good for this country needs help. Any government should look at the social aspects as well as the financial, Maggie was nothing short of a cold hearted bitch who ripped communities asunder.
Still you can hope they don’t build a nuclear power station near you, there’s no alternative now.

Social costs money, you can’t keep spending what you haven’t got. Thatcher was a direct result of socialism, you got what you asked for.
