Well, i have obviously led a sheltered life
I have never felt the sharp edge of a knife
Nor used one in times of strife.
Except on my next door neighbour’s wife.only kidding, it was two doors down

4 July, 2008 at 4:14 pm #351256Basically these people are a sc.ummy underclass with the intellegence level of Baboons. They will not think twice of the consequences of taking someones life and the suffering caused to the victims family, because they havent got the intellegence level to do that.
Dunno what the answer is, but the Labour Government isnt gonna do a damn thing about it, that’s for sure.

AnonymousKevin.
I have to ask, please do not take it the wrong way.
Do you think calling everyone stupid makes you intelligent?
You always do it. Just an observation of course.

My original point still stands. Keep making your silly remarks about spelling Kevin.
If I ever see the guy who plunged you I’ll buy him a Beer.
5 July, 2008 at 12:00 pm #351261I’m not sure theres anything that can be done about it short of stopping and searching every teenager on the streets which obviously isnt practical.
Why does it only seem to be such a problem here in the UK though?…..to the best of my knowledge it isnt a problem in other european countries.
Is it the fault of the parents for not teaching/instilling discipline and respect for others into their children?Maybe compulsory conscription would help.
In Germany they still have to do 9 months military service, and they dont appear to have half the problems with their teens as we do……just a thought, I dont pretend to be an authority.5 July, 2008 at 2:28 pm #351262@giselle wrote:

As for stop and search- actually- if the Met undertook a massive publicity campaign that undercover officers would be starting continuous stop and search drives AND anyone found with a knife received an immediate 2 year jail sentence..I bet it would soon die down
But then again, the lovvies will claim stop and search infringes human rights too
5 July, 2008 at 2:55 pm #351263Across Latin America there were 36.4 homicides per 100,000 young people; Colombia topped the table with 84.4 killings per 100,000, followed by El Salvador and Brazil. Across Africa the average was 17.6 killings per 100,000 young people. In Russia it was 18 homicides per 100,000. In the USA the comparable figure was 11. And in Western Europe? France had just 0.6, Germany 0.8 and the UK only 0.9 killings for every 100,000 young people.
This is part of a report by the World Health Organisation in their report on Violence and Health, which puts things into perspective. The actual amount of youth deaths in the UK is tiny. Even with the trend recently reported, in comparison with the rest of the world, the amount of deaths is quite small and has not been increasing at an alarming rate, despite the impression given by the recent events.
The report suggests that although we should never bilittle the loss of life, the reality of the figures involved does not show an alarming trend, but more a slight rise. The report concludes:
There is no ‘epidemic’ of young people determined to stab each other. But there is an insecure society where many feel so cut off from one another that they can see the lowest rate of youth homicide in the world as the biggest danger facing Britain. That is a dagger pointing at the heart of our civilisation.
Is the media feeding paranoia? I feel it is, and this kind of panic mongering has been going on in America for decades, and is fuelled by ignorance.
