The government are working on ways to buy or ensure the release of 5 british men who were kidnapped in iraq yesterday. these men are private contractors working freelance and getting paid a small fortune for getting iraq ready for so called democracy. what galls me is that they went there for one reason only, to line their pockets with oil money. Why is it then that we are planning either to buy their freedom with our money or risk even more british lives to rescue these men ? the money for this political posturing and testosterone fuelled pissin contest is coming out of yours and my pockets. these men should take out insurance with the iraq government. then mabey they would get better protection and the corrupt government of iraq would have to pay for their release. if i thought i would be getting my head chopped off by some stone age religious nutter i would stay well away and not expect other men to come rescue me for being caught with my hand in the cookie jar. :? :? :?
30 May, 2007 at 10:36 am #271971Yeah right on Waspish!!! Stuff them eh? Why should we all have to pay for their safety?
We should all do absolutely nothing and let them be decapitated on video. Then we can all watch from the safety of our homes and smile with smug satisfaction as another greedy profiteer gets theirs!!!

Old fashioned as it may be,
Every son Has a Mother
Let them be re-united again30 May, 2007 at 11:53 pm #271973Just you watch!!!!! The SAS are already planning their rescue and they’ll be freed in no time.
If they get murdered, why dont we use Iraqi tactics, and just randomly bomb any fecker in Iraq
In fact, lets just feckin invade their country, rob their “oil”, bum their kids, make the woman actually cook summat for once, and kill all those feckers that run around going mental wearing european football shirts
31 May, 2007 at 7:43 am #271974ha ha ha ha ha i just peed meself……
get me a tenna lady….31 May, 2007 at 9:13 am #271975I have no sympathy for those being kidnapped in Iraq. That country is a war zone, with madmen ruling it. To be a westerner and think working there is a good thing, then you ask to be kidnapped.
5 June, 2007 at 8:33 pm #271976thanx fer that emmalush i thought it was just me again. no doubt some will think im being a tad hard about it. but you never hear of these workers going and sharing their knowlege with africa or india or anywhere else where they dont get paid a fortune do they..so why do we have to go and rescue em when they cock it up nd get captured.
5 June, 2007 at 9:41 pm #271977I discovered yesterday that the Briton kinapped (the computer expert) was my IT engineer from 2 1/2 years ago.
Funny old world- he was a real nice chap too.
Cynical would say he was lining his pockets
Knowing the man and the other places throughout the world he has worked in (often for peanuts) just to improve the well being of poor nations, I KNOW his aim out there was to better the lives of the ordinary people of a totally f/ecked up country
Of course, everyone believes they know better when actually they know feck all.
Wasp- the reason you never hear of the thousands of workers, many voluntary, who go abroad to work in industry, IT, health and education is because is isn’t “news” that people are interested in and the people that do it dont do it for the publicity or the money, they do it because they believe they can make a difference
11 June, 2007 at 11:02 am #271978as a nurse i volunteered to work in africa 15 years ago and would have been happy to go and do my bit im not saying they are bad men at all but the country is being raped by the american oil men and tonys thought police and these men are in a dangerous job i hope they are released as the government have said they will not negotiate for their release. good luck to em i think they are going to need it.
i simply made the point the way i did to get the ball rolling im not that heartless realy but it got us talkin. :wink:13 June, 2007 at 8:33 am #271979Here’s Talon’s solution:
let’s do an exchange, we get these guys back and the kidnappers get Bush and Blair in their place. After all, these two cowboys started the whole show when they went in to Iraq with both guns blazing, like they were starring in some Hollywood western or something like that.
As if having one Afghanistan in the world was bad enough, now we have two to contend with. Another country that will now be permanently ungovernable and lawless. So for any Westerner that does go there, whether for the good of the country or just to line their own pockets, good luck because you’ll need it :!: :!:
