Couldn’t agree more Robbo, Newcastle have the resources now to be on the same financial playing field as the very best. And as I mentioned, since Keegan is the man they wanted I reckon we’ll see some seriously big money being spent.

Looks like the board are backing him with some serious cash, though I doubt it’ll be quite enough to sign the already alleged targets:
Ronaldhino
Kaka
Drogba
Scott Brown
Deco
Wayne Bridge
Wes Brown
Shaun Wright-Phillipsand any other names the media draw out of the hat
That’ll be the media pissing in the wind as usual. And the bookmakers.
I dont even think they could afford Shearers wage as a 2nd in command never mind the likes of Drogba.
A few months ago they may have been in with a shout for Shaun W P, but not now he is on scoring form. (ive always told my chelsea hubby he will be class).Um…You do realise that Newcastle are one of the richest clubs in the world in terms of finances? They are in the top 10 by some distance as a financial secured club the last time I looked.
Financially secured at the bottom half of the table Robbo. 8)

Another thing that impressed me with Keegan at the press conference is that while he said all the right things, he sounded like he firmly believed everything that he was saying. As oppose to some who just wax lyrical to endear themselves to the fans.

Ive always admired his honesty and 10 years or so ago I was preying they would get the title rather than Man U. Thats why he is popular, he shows his emotions. Not always a good thing to some, but most of us normal people see that as a quality.
19 January, 2008 at 3:24 pm #304560Have to agree. I’ve read folk being critical of that image of him slumped over the advertising boards (think it was against Liverpool) in despair but to me that just shows genuine emotion and how much the game meant to him. And how many other managers stand outside the stadium and explain to the fans their decision to sell a player (Cole)?
He was outside the stadium with the fans when he was supposed to be in the press conference FFS, hence why he was a bit late!
19 January, 2008 at 3:31 pm #304561He will never be a robot spokesmen. He is definatley refreshing. Good luck to him.
19 January, 2008 at 3:34 pm #304562I don’t think the owners will say much tbh, so long as they’re all pulling in the same direction for the same thing then he’ll have his freedom. They’re bound to know what they’ve taken on

19 January, 2008 at 4:11 pm #304564That would be ‘big 5’ wouldn’t it?
20 January, 2008 at 12:36 am #304565Not the best of start’s but it was never gonna happen overnight.
Highlighted the need to buy though, as he said – Newcastle have a good squad but it’s a small squad. Especially today with injuries, suspensions, being in jail and the African Nations.
