As many of you know I recently lost my mum. On 23rd December she was knocked down by one of these mobiltiy scooters. For all of those who think they can’t do that much damage, she suffered a broken hip, knee, leg and ankle. Sadly she passed away on 27th May, 2 days short of her birthday.
I had mentioned to various people in the chat room that I intended to start an online petition for the registration of these mobility scooters. Too many accident have happened and too many deaths and serious injuries are being caused by them. This campaign won’t bring her back, but will I hope, find some justice for her.
The petition is called Justice for Margaret and the web address is as follows: –

Many thanks

Yes, I agree Cas.
I’ve seen some of these in driving in the middle of an A road, holding up all the traffic, putting themselves and others at risk.
I also think the pensioners that wrecklessly drive them should wear a crash helmet.30 June, 2007 at 1:28 pm #274586signed

I think cripple carriages as well as bicycles should HAVE to carry with them a test, be covered by insurance and have vehicular identification (registration plate of some description) and as much as I think the two should really be classed as pedestrians with wheels and ONLY stay on the path, IF they use the road they should also pay road tax for the privelidge of causing congestion

almost lolled at that1 July, 2007 at 6:02 pm #274589Also Cas, you might want to look at the governments E-Petition page, I didnt even realise we had one until I got a mail about the petition regarding the pay per mile scheme the government is introducing
A petition on there alongside this one might be worth considering and also might even be a better place to have people sign
