The numerous ‘views’ of the fight threads can be attributed to the flamers
who keep revisiting the thread to read responses, and to post their own
responses.
There are a few who read the fight threads without contributing, but surely JC
is all about contributing and contributors?
The constant fighting is driving new and old users away from JC.How can you say arguing is driving new and old users away? look at the the fight threads oppose to the non-fight threads, the arguing threads are booming thousands of views, someone is obviously reading them. And if people dont want to see fighting dont read them, read the other threads God knows there are many boring ones.
Do you always only read the last line of other peoples posts?

OK, so the so called flamers, such as yourself revisit the threads
thousands of times? give me a break, people are nosey and they love the
scoop on whats going on especially if there is a fight. My premise is that the fighting is discouraging new posters and driving
away old posters. The message board does not survive on views, it
survives on posts. Not posts by the few who want to drag it down, but on
posts from the many who want amusement, information and healthy
entertainment.19 January, 2006 at 12:35 pm #183058Yours is an interesting premise Owen, but the evidence to support it is at best only anecdotal.
Don’t forget all the JustChat message board is is a piece of software (provided by phpBB) on a server with numerous internet pathways to it.
The content (or posts) are totally those of the users and nobody else. It is free at the point of use, whether as a Guest or as a signed up Member. The board ‘traffic’ is created by views – some of which lead on to users posting and the majority of views that don’t lead to a post.
It is a community and if you feel that the community is posting stuff that causes itself harm then you should lead the way personally towards the change you want to see and hope that others will follow you.
19 January, 2006 at 12:56 pm #183059Basically Owen, Pb is teling ya to spread the lurve about
19 January, 2006 at 1:06 pm #183060I think that was the gist of my post Oss. Hopefully it may bear fruit – you never know.

I have come to the conclusion that the bickering/fighting on these message
boards is discouraging new posters and driving regular posters away.
The chatrooms are busier than the M25, so why aren’t the boards busier? With a little more effort and restraint from the few loyal posters we have left
here, JC could be a fun place to visit and contribute to (once again). What do you think?
Well it,s not discouraging me, far from it. I think all the abuse is great, bring it on yippeeeee!!.. it,s better than watching eastenders on here sometimes. And why should we show restraint?? don,t be such an old stick in the mud Owen, go on hurl that abuse, everyone else does. pmsl. sorry, i,m in one of those moods today.

point I’m trying to make PB. I may ‘view’ a thread five times to read others
posts before I post myself. Then I might ‘view’ the post five times again as
others respond. So there you have it. I’ve ‘viewed’ the thread 12 times and
made 2 posts.@forumhostpb wrote:

That’s why I started this poll, to gauge others feelings. So far it seems
the majority agree that the fighting is deterring posters old and new.19 January, 2006 at 7:55 pm #183063I think the fighting has spilled all over the boards to such an extent that many
people don’t want to post here at all. So they leave, and any new visitors
seeing the fighting everywhere daren’t post.
I’m not the only one that thinks this as the poll suggests.19 January, 2006 at 8:09 pm #183064I think there is Banter which is always good for a chat site – infact it is a must.
But when it comes down to total bitchiness and mud slinging then it should be brought to a halt for the benefit on the majority.
Fair enough it is fun to read to start of with and occasionally even to have your penny’s worth.
As my name has been brought into one or two of these scraps i found it unnessecary as i am in general a happy person. but i can take it anyways.
Some can’t and deep down find it offensive. This is the problem. One or two ppl no names mentioned don’t care who they offend and shoud be dealt an oficial warning.
At the end of the day it could be the death of these boards. I find myself posting less and less here. Thankfully i spent 2 weeks away – and since my return i haven’t witnessed too much of it but then again i aint really looking :D

I’m not the only one that thinks this as the poll suggests.Im sure you arnt, but JustChat didnt become second most popular chat site when googled because people dare not view or post.
JustChat is third on Google if you type in ‘chat rooms’. But if you type in
‘message boards’ JC doesn’t get a mention.
The majority of people using the JC chatrooms are unaware of the boards. -
