aka bridget the midget :lol:14 February, 2014 at 8:31 am #522024well –
at the risk of exposing myself as the grumpy old codger laughed at by Cosy and even worse, to being a target of ridicule in the next issue of this mag (which I’m sure everyone wants to see) as devastating as that handed out by the rev I am going to step apart from everyone and say
this mag is not my cuppa Horlicks; and there are points which left me feeling quite unpleasant.
Sorry everyone, I know you loved it and there’s no need to repeat the point.
Funnily enough, the worst part was also the funniest – the dating section of the rev, with the one-dimensional public schoolboy humour of Private Eye (or preppy-school humour of an old magazine I liked when I was 12 called MAD).
The rev is a man whose politics are obnoxious and whose constantly repeated requests for intelligent women to date him are begging for satire. He’s actually a figure of fun all by himself.
But the pic got to me. It looked just like my grandpa in his 80s (and, if he dressed in that style, like my dad now I guess). I kept seeing my dear gramps as the scorn aroused about an old guy dating po rn que ens etc etc mounted. I kept thinking of the poem about old men quietly weeping on park benches – that line makes me want to hug them (and catch fleas,I know).
So…does this mean I have no humour (like the censors who’ve forced me to modify this)?
Hope not. Know any good jokes?
Apologies to Mooosey for going on.

Ctrl and minus reduces the text size so it can fit the screen
Ctrl and plus to increase the text size
This should work on most computers
17 February, 2014 at 5:29 pm #522028Love it!
Well done editors … a lot of hard work went into that issue.
Just wish I could see it all … each time I refresh I get different sections!
