the simple reason was “rhodys” thrive on sandy soil not clayey grimy, northern cloggy pits

if you check your history a lot of poverty stricken mancs, scousers etc, were promised a new life,no more outside toilets(in fact incredibly a lot of women were heard to complain”eww a toilet indoors what about the stink”) bless em

so we built overspill estates they were promised gardens, and they got them,it was a far cry from tin baths outside toilets, and grey bleak backyards, the families who were assigned to the high rise flats ,looked down with envious ggrs “how come theyve got gardens and we havent”

councillors tried to appease this by trying to say yes but at least youve got a view

not me said said emily brocklehurst 65 from gorton im on the ground floor

then the men said oh look at tis gardens and stuff at last i can [plant

and then they progressed int allotments and

oh i dont know where im going with this tbh
